It doesn't matter it all means the same thing, just do wich you like best. I always had my kids call my dad grandpa and one day he said he would realy like to be called papa so I asked the kids to call him papa it took a little time but now it is papa. Not a big deal. By the way congradulations!!!

I have a two year old grandson and when he first started to realize people have names.. he being told to call me Nana (which I wasn't too fond of) and Gramma (which I could live with). He ignored everyone and now calls me Nina.. which I adore because HE picked it!
I guess what ever name you hear from the baby will touch your heart enough to make you love being called it. I do.
Just go with your gut feeling on this one or the family preferred name... and congratulations on the grandchild! They are the best gift you can have EVER!
Best of luck.
:)

My mother goes by nana and my husbands mother goes by grandma.
Find out what the other grandparents are going by then choose something different. Its much easier for a child to distinguish who exactly you are talking about if every grandparent goes by something different.
Sometimes if both grandmothers go by the same name you end up becoming grandma (and your last name). I just dont think it sounds like your close with the child if they are calling you by your last name.

Well you could suggest to the childs parents the child call you grandma and then usually the child won't be able to say grandma and however the child pronounces the name becomes your 'grandma name'.This is how allot pf people do it.

You will love whatever your grandchild calls you. My mom HATED the idea of being called "mammaw". She said it sounded hillbilly-ish. I never called my grandmothers anything but "grandma" or "grams" sometimes. Now, my daughter calls her "meemaw" and my dad "pappaw". She loves it. Let her/him decide. Whatever she/he comes up with will make you smile everytime you hear that little voice say it.

You may have to let the grandchild decide, kids are funny that way, they will call you what they want. My only grandchild is in kindergarten and when he started writing my name he spells it 'gramo' and he insists that is how you spell 'gramma'. We also have a 'momo' and a 'gommy' in the family, and I called my grandmother 'Samma".

My mom insists my daughter call her Grammy instead of grandma. And my mother inlaw wants to be called Mawmaw.
Personally, I think they're both in denile. But whatever makes you feel more comfortable.

I love Nana ... !
My daughter started calling my mom Grandma Banana ... and it shortened to Grandma Nana ... it's so cute ... growing up we called our grandmas by their names ... Grandma Marsha & Grandma Katie (boring) ... although Katie isn't her real name it was her dogs name and when we were little we use to say we want to visit Katie's house .. you know Grandma Katie's ... so to this day we call her Katie ... her name is Lil ... big difference ... lol ... I say have her call you whatever she wants to call you ... it's sweet when they come up with one themselves ... congrads too ... !
