Since many so called New Age elements were practiced before most established religions why is it called New? And why do the main religions try to discredit it?

Because only recently was it re-brought up as something that hasn't been practiced, even though I darn well know what you're talking about. I'm a pagan, and know that it's been around for 3x longer than christianity, or even longer.

Call it Renaissance Age then. Of course the main religions want to discredit 'New Age', it is superior to what they have to offer people.

That is the established religion's label to try and discredit ancient philosophy by calling it 'new'.

I think it has to do with the Age of Aquarius or something, I am a pagan, I don't call myself " New Age".
