Most likely not.

I don't have any hard numbers, but you'll find that while the 737 probably has more crashes than other models, you have to remember that the 737 is by far the most popular type of aircraft in the world. So, obviously, the more flying, the more crashes for that model.

Nope, not at all. The 737 is a very reliable aircraft. The 737NG series which is the -600/-700/-800/-900 is extremly reliable. There has only been one fatal accident of the 737NG which was the GOL flight in Brazil, which was hit in mid-air by smaller private jet.

Boeing has delivered more than 5,000 737 over the years, and has 1500 of the type on order. Southwest is the largest operator of the type, with almost 600 of the type.

When you hear that another 737 crash, most of the time, this happens in 3rd world countries, they aren't maintaing their aircraft properly.

The "safest" jet in the world is the Boeing 777, with no fatal accidents.

Take a look at this website: http://www.airsafe.com/events/models/rate_mod.htm

One thing to note is that they don't list the Airbus A330 and A340 which have never had a crash, but the A340 did crash land last year in Tornoto, but no one was killed.

NO!

The 737 family is even safer than the Airbus A320 family, even if you take into account the old 200 series 737s.

Read Boeing's Jetliner Accident Statistical Summary here:

This includes accidents up to Dec. 31 2005.

Statistically, Concorde, was the most dangerous.

Simply no, but I am going to get really technical on your a**. All commercial aircraft have the skim's on the underside of their wings. These help them to not just plunge into the deep blue in the event of a water ditch. However, these aren't really affective on any aircraft (including the 737) that has its engines mounted below the wings. These skim's are, however, useful on aircraft with rear mounted engines such as the 717. So in the even of a water ditch or crash, I guess you could say the design is unsafe but in a loophole, it is pretty safe.

Statistically speaking, no it isn't. It may have something to do with the number of B737's there are in the world. On average, one such aircraft is landing or taking off every 5secs. With so may of the type in operation, it can only be expected that incidents involving them will be higher.

No way. Statistically, it is one of the safest aircraft ever build. The one reason that U hear so many accident reports about it, is because there are so many of them flying all the time. It is the one modern airliner that outnumbers all other airliners today.

I work for an airline and have always been told that it has one of the best safety records of any aircraft type. At one point at least, it was also the most widely utilized.

I think the Cessna 172 is in terms of number of crashes (in the thousands I'm sure).

The Concorde only had one crash in 24 years of flying and 18 years of passenger service so it must be the safest.

But really, you can make statistics say anything.

Planes are much safer than cars.

no B737 is safe.. other than the 200 series, i consider DC 9 as the most dangerous with regards to the crash that happenned in Davao City, Philippines and flat tires that happened in my hometown.
