Jewelry should preferably be worn on the hand you use least because it minimizes scratching and bumping into stuff.
That's why lots of people say left hand because most of them are right handed. But if you are a lefty, you should put it on the right hand.

The majority of the world wear it on the left hand ring finger (the one next to the pinky) But, I know for a fact that they wear the wedding ring on their right ring finger in Germany.

I always look, see a huge diamond that I could never provide, and sulk in grief and low self-esteem. Sad.
