I am 34 years old. I am not scarred. I've heard the same message touted for years that picking or squeezing pimples causes scarring. I have always popped my pimples because the pressure becomes too painful to bear otherwise.
I wonder if those people that say not to squeeze or pop pimples have ever actually felt the pain.
Has anybody actually done research on why people with acne scar?

I also like to use hydrogen peroxide on my face or back after relieving the pressure. It helps my skin to heal faster.

i used to suffer bad outbreaks and loves to pop my pimples until they are really swollen and bad...however now in my 20s, my pimples have cleared and i dont see scarring on my skin. guess its really individual.

Not everyone gets scars from popping pimples but yes this is what causes scarring on those that do have acne scars. You sound like you still get acne and if this is the case you might want to consult the doc and get treatment for it. Remember that acne is caused by the staph bacteria and popping them tends to spread this bacteria to other parts of the face and your hands.

Pimples scar if it got infected and became wounds after popping them. Scarring my also be due to the type of skin one has. When popping pimples one has to be sure that he/she does it with clean hands to avoid infection.

Alot of this is caused by the individuals skin type, diet, etc. Cleanliness of the hands affects this too. If you wash your hands and spread the pimple instead of squeezing it, you are less likely to scar.

No scars here either.
I think everyone's skin is a little different. Some people will get scars, others won't.

no i havent done any research on this....... but it's true to an extent.... i usta always get pimples all the tyme and some of tha ones i poped scarred my face and some of them didnt.... so i guess it depends on the damn pimple.......

Experience has shown me that pimple that a pussey do leave craters sometimes but those little hard ones don't.. like blackheads.

It depends...I think alot of the scarring is from picking instead of popping

havent done the research but i have scars from picking it depends on your skin type i believe
