Yes it can, if it's done the wrong way. Starvation diets and the use of fat burners or diet pills can wreak havoc with anyone's metabolism, but the danger factor is much higher in teenagers because their bodies are still developing. Don't be misled though -- the wrong type of diet or using the wrong weight loss products CAN stunt growth in teenagers, but there's no way to be sure whether any of those things WILL stunt a teen's growth.

It's not the dieting that stunts growth its the fact that when teenagers go on diets they usually either starve themselves or just eat dieting bars or drink dieting that do not give you all the nutrients needed to continue growth. Therefore the body doesnt have what it needs and growth will slow down.

Depends on what you consider "dieting." It's certainly not healthy to deprive your body of any type of nutrients, including carbs and fats. If you eat a balanced diet including *all* of the food groups, and get a decent amount of exercise, then you should be fine. If you did something like the Atkins diet, or counting calories, then it is very dangerous for any human being, but especially for one who is growing, and it could very possibly stunt your growth.
In the end, you should really ask your doctor, who knows more about you and your medical history and can give you a definite answer.

Yes, fat cells are used extensively in the growth process and mental development. Just be balanced and with your diet and exercise. There is no shortcut without bad side effects.
