Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply Santa, is a fictional, legendary gift-giving icon who distributes presents to sleeping children and adults who have been "good" all year; traditionally during the night of December 24, Christmas Eve. The popular American form Santa Claus originated as a mispronunciation of Dutch Sinterklaas, which is a contracted form of Sint Nicolaas (Saint Nicholas). Despite Santa Claus's mixed Christian roots, he has become a secular representation of Christmas. As such, a number of Christian churches dislike the secular focus on Santa Claus and the materialist focus that present-receiving gives to the holiday.

Well, Santa Claus is based on a Christian saint, although I really don't know how he became associated with gift giving on Christmas....but the fact that he does give out presents pretty much associated him with the holiday. Although he seems more secular than religious.

One time on Southpark Jesus and Santa got into a fist fight. But they made up afterwards...so I think your teacher should let santa in on the christmas festivities. Santa is also referred to as St-Nicholas so he must be somewhat religious.

I wasn't aware that Santa and Christ had anything to do with one another.Santa isn't Religion but Jews celebrate Hanuka which does not invole a Santa.Maybe that's why the school was bent out of shape. Not that I agree with it.I'm just giving my opinion.I think schools were alot better when prayer and bible were aloud the proof is in the pudding.

the fact is that Santa keeled down and asked Jesus into his heart, and was saved, and now he can't be in any Christmas plays at school. The school is run by atheists I hear.
Meanwhile Jesus put his hands on the principle's wife and shouted JEEEESSSSUS!!! and she was healed. How's that for a double standard.

The Supreme Court seems to think that Christmas Trees and Santa are secular, and adding them to a Creche (Manger) makes the Creche less about religion and more about the "Holiday Season."

Therefore, your teacher is in error.
