i thought if you already had a ticket in progress that you couldnt get another ticket for the same thing, at least until you have your other ticket paid for. Does anyone know what you have to do to get a doctors note saying that you can have tint. My eyes are very sensitive and i think i could get one but im not sure what all you have to do when you see if you can get one so if anyone knows then please let me know, and also does anyone know any good websites that explain the rights we have because sometimes cops can be pretty sly when they pull you over and do things that arent legal- like for example i know if they ask to search your car you do have the right to say no- and i want to be sure i know my rights and get treated fairly.

i know i asked a lot of questions but i hope somebody can help me with this.

You can get tickets for the same thing within minutes of each other. Illegal is illegal.

As far as your mention of seaching the car - if they have probable cause to search your car (such as you reek of weed or they see a box of bullets on your seat) then they don't actually need your permission - that's just a formality. Oh, and if they rip your car apart (damaging anything) they don't have to pay for it to be fixed either. It's just the way it goes.

Most legitimate doctors I know will NOT write a doctors' note stating you need your windows tinted. There's no medical basis for that, and the note wouldn't stand up in court anyway. Unless the doctor is an idiot or the judge is - it won't fly. Sorry.

Get lighter tint. As long as it's not pitch black, it's legal - at least in NY.

Not true. Although you shouldn't be able to get two tickets in the same DAY. The point is, tinted windows are ILLEGAL in many states - it's a police safety hazard. If you have super sensitive eyes, you can get special sunglasses (that look really goofy, btw) that will protect your eyes. A doctor's note is great, but it doesn't give you carte blanche to violate the law. So even if you talk a doctor into it, you can still be ticketed.

You don't have a RIGHT to drive. Driving is a privilege.

From personal experience I know (at least in NY) that if you can provide medical proof that you have a vision or skin problem that is sensitive to light you can get an exception from the court. But they have to beleive you.
As far as the tickets are concerned... you can get as many as they are willing to give. I have a friend that got 9 tickets for tints over th course of 3 months.
Try changing to a lighter tint... maybe that will keep the cops off of your back.

Just depends on what the state regs are on window tinting and what the time frame was between the 2 stops did you show the officer the 1st ticket ? Sounds like your tint maybe too dark it if you don ot like getting stopped then It might be in your best intrest to maybe get a lighter tint installed esp if it is in the same town you are getting stopped in .

My neighbor has tinted windows because of eye sensitivity. She has to have all over tinting because of peripheral vision. She talked to her doctor and then had to go to court for special permission.
