I can not afford a vet, and I think my dog Molly is going to die if I don't do something. She has decaying teeth and recently she stopped eating. She won't even eat her treats anymore. Sometimes when I try and feed her soft food she'll cry and toss her head to the side in pain. It makes me very sad! I know she's very hungry, but once she starts crying she runs and hides from me and won't eat anymore. I don't know if I should try and remove the tooth. She cries if i even touch the area so I havent been able to see in her mouth, so it could be even something else? I dont see any tumors or growths either. I don't want to lose Molly, she's only 8 years old. Thanks...

We did take her to a vet about a week ago and she's been on antibiotics sense then, but we're still not seeing any improvement. Our next vet appointment is in three days. Can I give Molly milk until then? As that is the only nutritional thing she can swallow...

Take her to the vet. If the tooth needs to be pulled out let the vet do it. If you don't need to pull the tooth out try feeding her soft, wet food.

I am sorry for you dog. You should try Wet food. that might help.(like canned dog food)

If you can afford a vet, then you should NOT have a pet. That is like people having kids when they can't afford to take care of them. I hope you know that it is considered animal cruelty when you dont care for you dog when it is sick or injured. You can get in a lot of trouble if someone reported you.

You NEED to take the dog to the vet. A lot of vets will work out payment plans with you. DO NOT removed the tooth yourself, Im sure you aren't a licensed professional, and if you removed the tooth you could actually do further damage to your dog.

If you can't take care of your animal, dont get one. You need to consider surrendering it to someone who does care. Call your vet and tell them of the problem, tell them that you need to set up a payment plan.

If you can't afford a vet visit, there are ways to help you. Call around to your local vet offices and ask if they have any payment options such as a payment plan, pet insurance (similar to our own health insurance), or Care Credit, which is a credit card that can be used specifically for pet care. The credit requirements are relatively low, so it is easy to get approved, and if the vet offers this service, you can be approved in less than 5 minutes, and use the service immediately. I worked as a receptionist at a vet clinic, and we never turned away a sick pet. The first priority is helping the pet, receiving payment was dealt with later. I really hope this helps. Good luck!

I know you said you can't afford a vet but...it sounds like she needs more than just having the one tooth pulled. The rest of her teeth need to be cleaned. The bacteria that cause plaque and gingivitis can cause very serious problems with the rest of the body. They get into the bloodstream and affect the heart, among other things. She also needs to be on antibiotics and something to help with pain and inflammation. It's up to you as to whether or not you pull the tooth. It may be a short term solution but I think the bigger problem needs to be addressed, as well, if you want her to keep her healthy.

Unfortunately your dog does need to see a veterinarian. You can check out a website to see about getting financial assistance at www.carecredit.com. Some vet hospitals accept it as payment, some don't, so check first. To try to remove the tooth yourself would be considered a felony - practicing veterinary medicine without a license. You could injury your pet, yourself and it's inhumane to practice something as painful as tooth extraction without sedation/anesthesia.

If you can't afford to care for your pet and she is old and suffering, the best thing to do is to humanely euthanize her. It's inhumane to make an animal live in pain, unable to eat.

DO NOT take her to a shelter. If you cannot afford to take care of her, then you need to take responsibility for her. Chances are she has something else going on with her that is affecting her health - pancreatitis, kidney disease, lymphoma, etc. It would be a cruel thing to take her to a shelter and for her to die in a strange place without her family and feeling unloved.

Euthanasia is not cruel. It's the best gift to give to a suffering pet. To be able to give them peace with honor and love, to end their pain and to be with them so they know that they are missed.

No, they sell dog toothpaste at the pet store or you can buy it from your vet - chicken flavor yum! human toothpaste will upset your dog's stomach. You can use a human toothbrush though... just buy a soft child's toothbrush or maybe adult if you have a bigger dog. It shouldn't hurt unless your dog's teeth are really full of plaque and he already has gum disease. It will take some getting used to though... be patient with your dog.

Take her to the vet immedietly. You may not be able to afford it but there are many places that provide free services or reduced in price services due to someones financial situation. Getting a loan or a payment plan is also an option. But ifyou really love Molly take her to the vet so her pain will go away. If you pull it yourself you could cause even more damage.

The best thing is to call and see if you could work out a payment program or something with your local vet. Or even speak to a veteranarian to get information on what could be wrong with Molly. Not to alarm you, but my cat had jaw cancer and I never knew it because I couldn't afford it either until it was too late. At least call and see if there is something that you could do.

Can't afford for vet bills, but yet you have a computer and probably even a television? Well sell or pawn them and pay for vets bills or something! Owners like you should be put in prison. It's really cruel when you let your pet suffer so you can save few pennies or don't want to sacrifice something like your computer!
