I'm not a Jehovah's Witness but I can tell who is because of the knowledge they post about the bible. How do they know so much yet other christians from other religions are a little lost.

In reference to seminary training and bible knowledge, I have found those who have attended a seminar have less bible knowledge, and more knowledge on how to get more contributions from their flock.

The logic they use is in "high" sounding words, to explain what Jesus and the Apostles said in everyday language.

The last time I talked to a Baptist Minister, both myself and the brother I was with, thought of

1 Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become a sounding [piece of] brass or a clashing cymbal.

and

1 Cor 14:9 In the same way also, unless YOU through the tongue utter speech easily understood, how will it be known what is being spoken? YOU will, in fact, be speaking into the air.

and we felt sorry for his flock.

Thank you. We, as a whole, pride our selves on reading the Bible daily. As to the second half of your query there are others who do know the Bible well who are not Witnesses. The main thing when studying the Bible is to remember to follow Jehovah not man. Christmas is a BIG deal in my area. My Mother's coworker won't stop hinting for presents though she knows full well we do not celebrate pagan holidays. She cares little about the fact that it is Pagan as it is enjoyable. This is the biggest trap of life. The desire to give in to what is fun or easy rather than right.

PS, I do not always leave long answers. I do not know how to paste articles here instead of answering. Just thought the person who said we do this should know that not all do and in fact some who do this are NOT Witnesses.

Your question implies that only Jehovah's Witnesses have knowledge of the Bible. That is not true. However, it is true that - as a general rule - they are more acquainted with the Bible than people of most other faiths. However, I know some Witnesses whose knowledge of the Bible is not as extensive as some people who profess a different religion.

In answer, however, it would have to be said that they study the Bible a lot. Unfortunately, they mostly study the Watchtower publications which shape their interpretation of the scriptures that they're studying. It requires a lot of study to see things in the Bible that aren't there, such as : Jesus returned invisibly to the earth in 1874 (which has now changed to 1914); Jesus will return invisibly and unnoticed by most people (the Bible says he will come with a trumpet, everyone will recognize his return, even his enemies, those who 'pierced' him); there are two separate classes that receive salvation - Jesus and the apostles never taught such a thing - Jesus said that he would bring "other sheep" (the Gentiles) into the same flock with the Jews and they would all form "one flock", not two separate flocks with two different destinies. Neither Jesus nor the apostles intimated that people who received salvation would NOT go to heaven. Etc, etc, etc.

Jehovah's Witnesses have a good reason for all that studying since they believe that they must try to convert everyone they can to become a Watchtower follower, or they will be die at Armageddon. Another Watchtower interpretation, far removed from what the Bible actually says.

Disfellowshipped JW
1982 Corning, CA Congregation
For cause, but not the ones some ex-JWs who want to put themselves on a pedestal, want you to believe, and know you will without question.

Being a cab driver in Kansas City where there is more than one seminary, as well as various religious schools, I can tell you that attending The one thing they don't learn is the Bible as a whole. Not one has ever been able to answer a simple question as when do they observe the Memorial. Every one says a day in May. Ask any JW, above the age of 12, and they will answer what Christ said, to observe the memorial of the Last Support.

JWs always think first in terms of what Christ said in the Bible. Not only that, they know how to tell what day of the year it falls one (not Easter) without looking at a calendar.

JWs read the Bible regularly, from childhood on up. They can look things up not only in the NWT,but also in the KJV, as well as other Bibles.

I wonder which Bible is translated into more modern languages, the NWT or the KJV? The KJV Only Movement believes it to be heresy in doing so.

There are people that know the Bible REALLY well that are not Jehovah's Witnesses but I'm glad you've noticed that, as a group, we tend to be knowledgable.

It's likely because we really believe that Bible knowledge is beneficial for all things (2 Tim 3:16, 17). It's important to us to develop a close relationship with our heavenly father and the only way to really do that is by reading the Bible and so we strive to do it daily. We pray for Holy Spirit to help us have our hearts touched by what we read and to concentrate on what we take in so that we can apply it in our daily lives and help others to do the same.

As a group, we just really LOVE the Bible. We're taught to use it and we see the benefits of it. We have meetings three times a week which most of us attend and our meetings are more like classes than church services. It's at our Kingdom Halls that we really learn to STUDY the Bible.

My wish is that everyone give the Bible (whichever version they are the most comfortable with) a fair chance and just TRY to apply what it says...it really does benefit us!

Hello arihaz, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I can tell you for me it is because I really want the 10 points(no no I'm kidding) No it really has to do with taking the bible seriously. Where others try to fit a few scriptures to back up a false doctrine; ex. trinity, hell fire, you can see them futilely doing this, we take whole bible and endeavor to get the full meaning. James 3:17 brings out that the wisdom from above would be "easy to be in-treated", or "reasonable"

Now as far as cutting and pasting, I have never seen anyone do that, our responses are very heartfelt. I think that perhaps that is an assumption, unless it was the link to the website.

And it prophesied that most would not accept the correct path. 2 Cor 4:4 says how Satan is blinding the minds of the unbelievers, And Jesus likened our day with Noah. Also by their fruits you will recognize them, well you can see that on this forum, people resort to lies, and slander and utter nastiness to us and really anyone that doesn't share their beliefs. We aim to follow Jesus example and to exercise love; granted we are not perfect.

Taking in knowedge is very important to maintaining our spirtualality. I never liked to study, I was an awful student, this I had to overcome, and also there is more to studying God's word then just taking in head knowledge; it draws you closer to Jehovah. Getting to know how loving and merciful Jehovah is, and the love he showed for us by giving us his son, our reigning king Jesus, is staggering. I hope this helps.

in no way. Jehovah's Witnesses take their queue from the Watchtower. Now some will say its in basic terms a publishing company, as thought it has no authority over what they have faith. Ask any jehovah witness who ever went against what the Watchower Bible and Tract Society instructed them what to have faith, annd see what the implications have been.

we attend five meetings a week. two hours on Sunday, one hour on Tuesday doing a book study and two hours on Thursday. we learn how to talk to our neighbors, we also do a lot of studying of the bible. if we have questions about the bible, we can do research and ask questions. we also do what Jesus Christ told us to do at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. people think because we always talk about Jehovah that we don't worship Jesus. but without Jehovah there would never be Jesus. we have this beautiful book about The Greatest Man that Ever Lived. and this book is about Jesus Christ. years ago, Jehovah Witnesses where called Bible Students. if you would love more information about Jehovah Witnesses we have a beautiful website. www.watchtower.org

Most of this knowledge comes from attending five congregational meetings, three times a week and having a personal bible study. So, for our worship to be acceptable to Jehovah God, it must be based on truth. (John 4:23, 2Timothy 3:16, 17) By us taking in an accurate knowledge of the scriptures can relieve us of superstitions, false beliefs and doctrines, pagan holidays.

They take studying very seriously. They believe that the bible is Gods word and see the benefits of living by it and teaching it to others. (2 Tim 3:16,17)

Personal study, meeting with their congregation 3 times a week for a total of 5 hours and regular preaching and teaching work in the public.

And, if I may, respond to some of the comments above. Like, not believing in Jesus...

It's obvious that many do not know Jehovah's Witnesses that well. That statement is a classic misdeception of the Witnesses. If one took time to look into any of the publications printed by the Witnesses, one will find many references to Jesus.

And one main reason to why the Witnesses publically preach and teach, is because they obedientely follow Christs command in Matthew 28:19,20.

As for chalkboard and a 100 times...well. No comments. :o)

because we actually read the bible. so many here say that we believe what the watchtower society tells us. but what they dont see is how they are following what their priest, popes and other people tell them. everything we do is according to what jehovah has said through the bible. when u ask us a question we go straight to the bible. when we copy and paste which i try not to is because sometimes its just straight to the point. and if i copy and paste its because i agree. Every Thursday we have the theocratic ministry school and we have asigned bible readings which cone out of the bible. not any other book
