We read in 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15. "And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

This is all wrong. St Thomas Aquinas affirms that even in Hell is God's Mercy, you are not punished as you truly deserve. God MUST be present for without His sustaining power anything falls back into nothingness. If it existed on its own power it would be GOD !!!! As Dante says, the fury of Hell is our fury against ourselves seeing that we have freely deprived ourselves of eternal bliss. Your last two sentences sound like a street person. God is what He is and we are holy or unholy. Consider L —it is fearful, but it is right to say it;—that if we wished to imagine a punishment for an unholy, reprobate soul, we perhaps could not fancy a greater than to summon it to heaven. Heaven would be hell to an irreligious man. We know how unhappy we are apt to feel at present, when alone in the midst of strangers, or of men of different tastes and habits from ourselves. How miserable, for example, would it be to have to live in a foreign land, among a people whose faces we never saw before, and whose language we could not learn. And this is but a faint illustration of the loneliness of a man of earthly dispositions and tastes, thrust into the society of saints and angels. How forlorn would he wander through the courts of heaven! He would find no one like himself; he would see in every direction the marks {8} of God's holiness, and these would make him shudder. He would feel himself always in His presence. He could no longer turn his thoughts another way, as he does now, when conscience reproaches him. He would know that the Eternal Eye was ever upon him; and that Eye of holiness, which is joy and life to holy creatures, would seem to him an Eye of wrath and punishment. God cannot change His nature. Holy He must ever be. But while He is holy, no unholy soul can be happy in heaven.

Just because you are sincere does not make you right.

Being "religious" to me is works oriented. A person cannot earn there way into or out of heaven or hell. The wrath of God has to do with disobedience in turning away from God and letting sin be your master.

It is the false teachers that promote a self-righteousness and self-change instead of submitting our way for God's way and opening our self to God so that He can mold, shape and change us from the inside out.

one can be religious but may not be "religiously right" because there is a way which seems right to man but the end of it is death prov16:25 and many are called but few are chosen so there are many chances for a person to be sincere but still end up in hell unless he follows what is given in the will of GOD

yes, the pharisees are an example of this.
good works are nothing. it is a transformed heart that makes the difference. good works need to be the result of a renewed mind and transformed. they are not something done on your own. they are done by God working through you.

You bet. This is not a trap set by God. God gives us the information we need to get to heaven-some just refuse to believe it.
But, yes, there will be millions of "religious" people who go to hell. Why? Because they have their heart/mind set on some silly religion instead of God.
The Cross is the key-if you can figure that out (it is really easy-God made it that way) you are safe-reguardless of which religion you belong to, or which one you don't.

Yes, religion won't save you. Nicodemus what one of the greatest religious leaders of his time, yet, Jesus told him that just being a religous leader wasn't good enough and that He needed be be born again. In the below Bible verses it mentions a water birth....this is natural birth when you were born from your mother's womb. Her water broke and out you came. Then it tells about our need to also be born of the spirit...a spiritual birthday.

Jhn 3:1 ¶ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

Jhn 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Jhn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Jhn 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jhn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Jhn 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jhn 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

The way to heaven is through Jesus. Once you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the gates of Heaven are open to you. Jesus died so that we wouldn't have to suffer God's wrath.

If you don't believe in Jesus, Jesus is not amused. All religious and sincere people who don't believe in him will burn in hell forever, cause he doesn't like them.
As for the passage you quoted, it sounds like another one of Paul's episodes.
You church people have gotten all twisted up listening to Paul.
