Expectations really are a powerful way to make oneself miserable and to ruin a relationship of any kind.
I find that I start up in the habit of putting expectations on others when I am not focusing on or taking care of myself. When I meet my own needs I can better be with others without expectations. If I need help, I can ask someone else for help. If they can help, fine...if not, I ask someone else.
If someone I love is doing something to hurt herself or me, I will let her know how I feel. Putting demands to change her behavior is unhelpful and unloving. It is up to her to choose what to do. While I cannot limit another person's freedom, I can put limits on myself and what I experience. If another person's actions cause me pain, I can remove myself from the situation.
I make a daily effort to let go of my expectations, and it is truly worth it.

We all develop expectations in life and love. It is natural for the brain to expect things to happen. Our expectations of others can become very serious if we are an intense thinker and we have made our brain believe things that are not true. Eventually these expectations will come up for a test of reality. Your brain will seriously hurt you if the expectations are in error. A strong brain refuses to relearn. Forced to relearn by life and people will cause a chemical to be released into the body making what we know as depression. The more a person holds to beliefs the more serious the depression will become. Severe depression allows a chemical imbalance and one becomes psychotic or out of touch with reality. The brain fights fiercely to recover the flat earth and you become exhausted. The distortion is a thought patch to fill in for the wrong expectation. The games people play use this process to drive the unknowing to suicide.

I can't help 2 observe but u my luv are very clued up mentally when it comes 2 being aware of the in's & out's . Plus, up's & down 's of relationships.
I say this having read a number of the other questions you have posted on this cite.
In reflection to your question ?? yes, in short I have had had many expectations 4 a future girl friend- wife for many years: she needs to be sweet, understanding, VERY patient plus tollerent long hair blonde preferably brunette.
"A REAL MAN'S LADY" of the nite. a lady who adores being a true "Girle Girl", Who is into red & pink clothes especially make up & pink nail varnish.
pERHAPS A lADY THAT BY 2020 MAY WANT KIDS, I'm unsure of this though.
do any "Ladies" out there in the southwest of Britain, fit this description???
"SHE" U SOUND AS THOUGH U ARE MARRIED ????

Expectations are important. You have to have them, and your partner has to know what they are.
If you don't do expectations, you really can't expect or demand much from your partner. The relationship won't ever move forward.
And you do have expectations. At the very least, you expect to be treated a certain way. You might even expect him to call, or take you out on your birthday. Or for that matter, even remember your birthday.
Expectations aren't bad.

No.... not unless they mean something to me ...
.... otherwise I don't give a Fcuk
It just depends on the context ... we all have expectations of family/loved ones etc... otherwise we wouldn't get upset when they let us down...
...but of casual friends and colleagues .... hell no ... you should always .. know who u can rely on .. how much ..and in what context... and when not to expect too much too!!
but in the context I believe your question to be ... I always accept people for who and what they are ... even morons ;-))
Accept ...not love

The only expectations I have are those I think everyone should have of their friends or lovers...that they won't lie or cheat or disrespect...that type of thing...
As far as expectations on their personality and such...that's just a setup for disappointment...people will rarely be exactly who/what you want them to be...take them as they are or don't take them at all...

Well,i have created a sort of image of my ideal man..but i'm willing to accept his flaws....i'm actually in between,i have expectations(because i have so much to offer and i expect the same;it is normal for each of us to feel this way)...but i would also accept him for what he is.....Actually,there is one thing that i would NEVER accept-DISHONESTY.

To not have any expectations, of others, means you are not so easily disapointed.
