Twenty years ago, people weren't terribly concerned with the environmental issues that they seem to be today. But surely the problems can't have developed that fast.
How long do you think it will take for gloabl warming to be catastrophic?

They will not tell us even if it were to happen tomorrow.

The easiest way to tell if it is getting bad is to watch the animals.

The world is tipping on it's axis and our North pole will become the South pole, this will screw with the whole planet.

It is not all about how much fuel our cars use or about fossil fuels, if this world wants to change there is nothing we can do to stop it.

Unless Bruce Willis is not doing anything next Saturday.

Taking the individual environmental problems, it's going to be a long time before life here becomes unbearable. It's the combination of bad news, that's so depressing. Last week the white dolphin has officially been declared extinct, the deforestation speeds up and as the earth in Siberia defrosts, the gasses from the decaying mammoths speed up the global warming even more.

Perhaps the worst thing for me is the realisation that the power of money is far bigger than that of the politicians and therefore there is not a lot we can do, what would make a real difference.

Is the world getting worse?

Well, it *is* changing, but then, the Earth is *not* a stable environment - it has *always* changed throughout its history.

In the last 100 years global average temperatures have risen by about half a degree. But back in medieval times it was 3°C warmer that it is now and no one seemed to have much of a problem about it. It was when it started cooling down again that people started having difficulties. For example; the unusual hot weather in mainland Europe killed 3,000 elderly Frenchman a couple of years ago. The most recent cold snap in the UK killed 25,000 people.

A little bit of global warming is not going to cause any major problems. The global warming alarmists use words like "catastrophe" and "tipping point" to try and scare us into listening to them. There are enough people rubbishing their claims for me to sleep easy at night.

Twenty years ago was a time when people were already campaigning for the environment and when there was still time to do something about it. Anyone who says global warming isn't happening .... well ... I don't want to swear. The facts are right there, very obvious. The thing people don't get is that a problem like that gathers speed and encompasses many systems and it makes it very difficult to get the full picture. It is already catastrophic, we shouldn't have the problems we're having and yes we, humans are the main culprits.

I don't know for sure, but if you read Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" or watch the movie, it suggests that YES we are headed toward serious problems due to global warming. I'll say this, winters where I live now seem alot warmer than when I was a kid and I lived further south when I was younger, so I can't help but wonder if global warming is really happening at an accelerated rate. I don't think we should be freaked out at this point, but we should be at least concerned.

It may all be part of a continued cycle that has happened many times before. Each time it does of course, humans will vanish and the whole process repeated again. We are acceleratng the process at the moment with all our polluting ways. Too many people just don't care, but eventually when nature takes over they will have no choice. By then of course it will be too late.to do anything. But who the hell are we anyway, Earth will recover and by the look of it, be far better without us.

Global warming has only shifted the temp by about 1/2 of a degree in 100 years. So not for A while. I'll be dead by then so I don't really care. But I think people need to work on people before trying to fix the earth. Human morals have gone straight to hell. What happened to respect and love?

The world is getting worse. The increasing problems with global warming, for example, are basically, the result in the rise of technology and the 'modern-day' society. More and more buildings, less and less trees. Increasing numbers of cars and with all the electricity we use! That's why I think this developed so fast. 2006 is definitely different from 1950.

A lot of people are becoming more aware of this and are making efforts to help, mainly by decreasing their own CO2 production, but these people are definitely outnumbered by people who don't give a damn.

I'm betting that you don't remember 20 years ago, or at least, if you do, you didn't care about what people cared about. THIRTY years ago, people were worried about the next ice age. Greenpeace was driving spikes in trees to keep them from being logged, people were getting back to nature and forsaking traditional means to heat, cool, and provide light. This whole Global Warming isn't anything new, it's just a different title with different actors.

Well, it seems they have. Global warming might not take place though....There is probably still time to stop it...The Brazilians have already switched from gasoline to some sort of plant oil...If global warming is true it wil not happen for another 50-100 years...Atleast thats what I think.
