Why complicate things? You don't need to study to figure out how to be sober, you just need to make the decision not to pick up that first drink.

Shortly before my one year anniversary, a rumor went around that I had relapsed and I was thrown out of where I was living. The folks in AA, believing the rumors, shunned me. I sat in a park, across the street from a place that I used to buy beer thinking, "Nobody would blame me..." And it hit me.

"I am responsible for my own recovery, no one can keep me sober or get me drunk but me. I've come too far, worked too hard to throw it away because of what anybody thinks."

It was easy from then on; I now have over 5 years and work with people who have substance abuse and mental health issues.

It was written to help understand the 12 steps, gives people's experiences on how they worked the steps. Don't think of it as a study guide or a test, just as a suggested plan of recovery. It is very helpful if you plan to work the steps which do work.
