I bought some expensive wide fit long leather boots last year and I can't zip them up this winter. I've always had large calves but would really like to make an effort to slim them down and make them more shapely. Any ideas for exercises anyone?

I am dieting and the rest of my body is relatively slim but I don't do much exercise at the moment, just a bit of walking.

unfortunately you cannot just slim down one part of your body at any one time so to slim down the calves will not happen alone but diet and jogging will help slim and define them so that you will in time get those sexy boots on (lol) they will look slimmer also you could try lots of stretches and see how you go with that its inches that will come off with the exercises good luck

You can't really just slim down your calves. If it was your butt it'd be different. Basically do ALOT of cardio. That is 40-45 minutes of steady intensisty work out. So like 45 minutes on the treadmill at a speed of 5. Don't speed up or slow down. I personally think treadmills are boring so I would go to an aerobics class or dance class. Also yoga and pilates will help you a bunch. If your calves are all fat weight training combined with all of the above could tone up your calves by burning away all the fat and just leaving the muscle. However if they're muscle you can skip the weight training part. You WILL NOT bulk up trust me, I make over peoples bodies for a living.

Do the warming up exercises and then do cycling moves in the air while lying down on your back. Start at two minutes and raise it to ten minutes three times a week.

Swimmimg will sort out the legs and calf size, but it will take 3 months off 2 x a week swimming for an hour

I have large calves too and no matter what I do they stay that way. They are muscle though, so it's not that bad I guess. Are your calves muscle or fat? If they are fat, walking can make them more muscular and muscle takes up less space than fat so they will appear smaller.

you need to stretch and lengthen your muscles. try yoga positions designed to focus on your legs. massage can help too especially if they are more fat than muscle.

go to a yoga class and explain issue to the instructor after a few lessons and ask if they can help. or you could google yoga for at home exercises.

Any trainer will tell you that you can't "spot reduce," so diet and exercise will imrove your body overall. I guess the only other way is liposuction and that is very invasive.
