I have a nephew who is 16 and he has been wanting his tongue pierced for some time. I sell body jewelry and of course I think it is great. However I know with tongue piercings they are played with a lot and I am concerned about him chipping his teeth. Not that age has a lot to do with it...but as he gets older I am thinking he will be a little more careful. The confusion is ....I sell this stuff www.steelnpleasure.com so I feel weird telling him to wait while I sell it to people of all ages all the time. What do you think? Also I am his guardian so it is up to me..

Explain it like you did here in your post and I don't think he will have a problem waiting. Good luck! : )

If he wants to and shows that he understands the risk, you should let him. I'm sure he knows you sell the stuff, and if you sell it to other people all of the time and don't let him do it, you may create a rift in your relationship, as he will see that as unreasonable and unfair. Like everyone said, make sure he understands the risks and once he does it, make sure he is keeping up with the cleaning and maintenence.

How does tongue ring get associated with slut? For me it doesn't, it may be cool for some and yet turn off for some. But slut? Unless your whole impression to the others is bad (referring to your clothing and behavior), otherwise it's alright. Just do what you're comfortable with, alright?

the fact that you sell these things doesnt necessarily mean its ok for him... let him know that you care about him and it's not just business!!!

let him know that he can do as he wishes in a certain time. like if you think 18 is a better age, tell him at 18 you do it for him free of charge.

I had mine for 5 years and never chipped a tooth, but my parents would never have let me get it so I waited until I was old enough. just explain to him the risks that go along with getting it done and let him decide.

I wouldn't let my daughters get their tongue pierced, until they are 18 and the burden is on them.

I dunno I got mine in when I was 16 with my mom's permission!
I rarely mess around with it unless im agitated... after awhile I forget its there... therefore I really haven't had any chipped teeth from it and I've had it for 5 years,
