When i went for my 6 week check-up, after the birth of my first child i started birth control, the dr. said start on a sunday, so i did that was 3 1/2 weeks ago the day i started the pill i also started my period ( the dr. if this happens just keep taking the pill) well it hasn't stopped. Sunday i started the "sugar" pills so i guess i should have my period but i have had it no-stop for 3 1/2 weeks is this my body's way of "getting back to normal"? or is there something wrong?

I know it's not fun, but it is your body's way of readjusting to "normal". Just keep taking them - it will straighten out.

In general you should only begin taking oral contraceptives at LEAST 2 months after giving birth, because your cycle still has not been regulated. But ur dr should have had u wait about 3 months. But yes the bleeding is your body's way of trying to get back to normal being taht your hormones were adjusting after just giving birth and now have been confused again by the pill.. But always check with your dr just in case..It could be a hemmorage, but most likely not.

My friend just went through this. I think it's because they have you start the pills before you get your peiod back, so it throws your body off. Just keep taking them everyday and it will all get back to normal soon. This is why I didn't start the pill until I got my cycle back, which wasn't for 12 months since I nursed. It sucks to have use alternative methods of birth control, but I think it's still better them forcing your body to have a period when it's not ready.

I went through that after my first child. It was like a period for a few weeks straight, then a few days off, then back to the period. After a few monthis it should straighten out. This is common after having a baby and even more so if this is your first time on birth control.
