You're right. Religion is a crutch, a sign of human weakness. And to be honest, religion is not my only crutch. I am so weak, I need a whole array of support mechanisms to prop me up and keep me going.

I need food. As embarrassing as it is to admit, I am totally dependant on eating. Without food, I would probably not have the strength to do much at all. My body does not nourish itself. It needs outside help. So I eat.

I have an emotional crutch too. I need other people. If it weren't for the support of my family and friends I certainly wouldn't be where I am today. And while we are on the subject, I am also quite dependent on my shoes. My feet would be really sore without them.

The human is a fragile being. We are not self-sufficient. We depend on external sources for our survival. We need to be fed, we need to be loved, and we need shoes. I thank G-d every day, for it is He who provides me with food, family and footwear.

But above all, I thank Him for giving my life purpose. Just as I can't nourish myself without resorting to the outside, I can't give my life real meaning without seeking beyond myself.

Maybe that makes me weak. But I think it gives me strength. Even if I'm hungry, lonely or barefoot, as long as I have divine purpose, I can face any challenge.

For the most part that is true, however it's not necessarily the case for every religion. Simply because there are many competing truth claims doesn't render all of them false. It's very much within the realm of possibility that one is true while others are false.

Yes it can be a crutch. It can also be a crutch to say that for intellectual reasons you reject the notion of God. That can be a crutch for it liberates someone to live without regard for any divine or eternal consequences for their actions.

No. I do relish the style you proclaim in basic terms a "sky-daddy" and thus generalizing faith isn't something yet a monotheistic perception line. Oh please forget approximately approximately different ideals that contain ideals in "sky-mommies" or an entire relatives of "Sky-Whatevers". faith isn't a crutch, in basic terms to you and others with comparable ideas instruments, yet in basic terms for the reason which you think of so does not make it with the point to others or as fact. some people's lives are somewhat improved by ability of having a perception, no longer in basic terms interior the Christian God. a lot of people sense extra fufilled or loose of their human nature, and a few ideals somewhat replicate peoples very own evaluations and thoughts in direction of issues mutually with nature or self-discovery. Others even have ideals for they sense the international as all of us be attentive to has some thing extra to it than actual properties. So no, faith isn't a crutch. i will agree however that it could appear as if some people, usually mainstream religions, do look somewhat radical and very denying of information whilst confronted with questions and different know-how that contradictory.

No. I believe that EVERYONE, at some time, in some way, will ask questions that are bigger than their material surroundings. Given this, some will make things up.

Also, any belief takes faith. Not having a "myth" or "religion" takes faith just as much as having one when you consider the complexity of the world in which we live.

So, technically, I believe that Atheism, liberalism, conservatism, absurdism, and even agnosticism, are all religions.

Religion was Given as a crutch for the weak. I am with my brothers and sisters on this one. I am weak, so thank God that I have my religion. Apart from him I can do nothing.

religion is one thing and faith is another. Do you really believe you are born and die and that is it. If that is the case what is the purpose? I choose to believe the bible as it is the living inspired word of God, written over many generations by various authors. The myth is in your mind. I just said a small prayer for you. a2J

No, it was develloped to give more power to a few in order to help them dominate the masses.
One one side it was a legitimation tool for those that seized power:Kings got their power from God, even if in order to become king they assassinated their father and brothers. Religion spread the word that it was necessary to obey, to respect authority etc....

On another side it was used to make sure the dominated accepted there condition without revolting: " Sure your life down here is bad but just be good, accept it, work hard for your master and you will see what a good life you will get up there."

Power, domination and religion were always on the same side.

How do you explain miracles. Does that not provide proof of God?

People who don’t know Jesus and are moved by their natural senses and don’t know spiritual things. Some of their remarks can tell you where they are at (Matthew 12:34, Luke 6:45). Several common comments are 1. I can’t see that. Man relies on his five physical senses to guide him through life and to even make choices. Jesus said blessed are those who believe and have not seen (John 20:29). 2. There is no way.

I would rather have Jesus as my crutch than anything else in life. As history can attest to, obviously we cannot depend on man's ways to get us through life. We fail ourselves everytime.

So YES religion is a crutch for some of us. For others, it's simply a way of life.

If Jesus is a crutch then paralyze me.

If this is true and you consider some of the atheists and agnostics who write on here, they could use a good dose of religion.
