It sounds like your hair is probably prone to dryness. (Mine was like that too)
Some of the things that you can do is to make sure you use a really good shampoo and conditioner. You may want to consider doubling up on the conditioner - one when you wash it and one spray leave it conditioner. (I use both and it makes my hair baby soft)
Speaking to a cosmetician at a pharmacy will help you pick out the best.
Only blow-dry if you really really have to. It dries out your hair which makes it prone to splitting and breaking. If you can let it air-dry and then style it you will see a big difference in no time.
Also keep away from any hair care products that have alcohol or wax in it. Generally products made for "black" hair are much better quality then those for "white" hair, but again the cosmetician should be able to help you out.
Lastly, I recommend keeping away from metal brushes, combs and barrettes, etc. Metal products are hard on the hair and can cause a lot of breakage.
I hope that helps! Good luck!

Oh boy...if you are using relaxers/perms, those sure dry things out and are usually the culprit for all that breakage. I suggest you tell your stylist to be very careful not to overlap when she perms it, and to apply the product ONLY to the new growth. I would change stylists if she doesnt comply. Sounds to me like that is the problem. In the meantime, I would try some leave-in conditioners to get it in the best shape possible before you return to the salon. I know that with black hair, having regrowth is not an option....so maybe try that or change to a better stylist- it sounds to me like she is making excuses for her shoddy work!

Hair lacks moisture. Try some moisturizing shampoo. Also, use a satin scarf or head wrap at night. Avoid the hot curling irons and blow dryers as well. The less you touch your hair....the less split ends you'll have.
Good Luck.

OK. you should use Garnier Fructis length and strengthen. its an anti-split end hair treatment and its kind of like lotion for your hair. you should use it right out of the shower. it works for me and I've only been using it for a week. and you just leave it in your hair. it keeps split ends away and it makes your hair really shiny and it has nutritive fruit oils in it for healthy and silky hair. it smells good too. you can get it at walmart or at bath and body in the mall. good luck!

Use Sunsilk Hydra TLC shampoo and conditioner. My hair is dry with spilt ends and cutting it is one option, but this shampoo really works, and it's not too expensive. If you want to try it first, go to www.get-hairapy.com. You can order free samples.
