You need to get a humidifier in your house. The dry air creates static. Were you wearing shoes when this happened? Sometimes rubbing your feet on the carpet makes static electricity.

Hi, It's called static electricity. This happens a lot in the winter on account of your heating system uses up the moisture or humidity in your house.

One solution is to purchase a humidifier of size needed to put moisture back into your house, and you won't have as much SHOCKING going on and frizzy hair.

When you touched the light switch, the static discharged onto your hand and you may have heard some little pops. It sure is exiciting .

you could need to put some moisture in the air of your home. when the air is too dry you build up static electricity and when you turn on a lightswitch you may get a shock, its happened to me as well. try a humidifyer or an aluminum pan filled with water near your heater vents-that's what i do as its cheaper than buying a humidifyer. just be careful with it if you have pets who might drink out of it or small kids around. you can put a scented dryer sheet in the water to scent it as well. hope this helps!

You are now officially a mutant. Please enroll in Professor X's School for Gifted Youngsters. They can help control your static powers.
