Yes course you can if thats what you want to do!

My grand-parents knew each other 3 weeks when they got married, and stayed together for over 50 years so it CAN work!

Good Luck

:-)

Why someone's given me a 'thumbs down' for that i dont know - i didnt say 'yes go get married' i said 'it can work'. Have you never heard of TRUE LOVE???

You can marry whenever you want when your an adult. However, you have 2 things going against you. Your age and the fact that it's only been 5 freakin mos. What's the rush. I guarantee you will not be the same person your are now when you get closer to 30. So, that being said. More than likely it will end in divorce b/c you two will out grow each other, and it won't really be any ones fault. Date for a year, hell date for 2 years. If you still feel the same. I would say go ahead. You have so much to accomplish at this age. It's so much easier to do this alone (meaning no husband or child as distractions).

Hello! Im 20 and got married this year (19) my fella is 23 and we've been together for 6 years. Kind of a childhood sweetheart thing going on!

Firstly age is irrelevant but your always going to get the people looking down on you and saying 'oo shes far too young and immature/unresponsible' etc. End of the day, if you feel the times is right, then go for it....if it doesnt work out in the end then at least you can say you've tried. If not you'll always be wondering 'what if' i didnt marry him.

The only thing i would say is give it a year or so yet, everyone goes through the honeymoon period at the begining of a relationship, you can never really know someone inside out & back to front after 5 months, do you live together? Men turn weird when you live together (they probably thing the same about us too) and things may not feel right. Get adjusted to each other properly, get to know each other more....then a year down the line if you feel the same go for it!!!

about your parents, if your happy they should be too. Dont let them dictate what you do. prove them wrong.

Marriage is something that is supposed to be designed for life, the guy you marry has to your best friend, your lover, someone you can trust 100%, someone you can go to for advice/comfort. Someone who will tell you the truth (even if it means telling you your bum looks big!!!) someone your proud of, someone you can imagine growing old with.

Those things that he does now that you find really sweet, will really start to grind on you after 10 years! Dont rush into it, if your really think he's the one and you want to get married. How about getting engaged and start planning your wedding for a few years time (trust me things take forever to organise!) that way by the time it comes round to the big day you'll know for sure!

Good luck and hope it all works out for, try not to get too down by people disapproving of your relationship, as i said ive been with my guy for 6 years and have seen all the people who said 'it won last'/will never work relationships fall apart!

Another bit of advice for it to besuccessful is to support each other in whatever the other wants to do, as your young you'll be starting careers soon. My fella let me do my thing and now im moving down south with him as he's in the MDP, just because your young and married it doesnt stop you from exploring the world & getting a career, experience life changing experiences but TOGETHER!!

If he's really the one he'll be there in 2/10/20 years time!!!

To answer your question, yes, you can marry someone after knowing them for five months. But, considering your age, I would wait. If you love him, still date and be with him, but figure out what you want to do in life. Are you in school? Do you know what kind of job you want to have? What about his situation? Just date exclusively and be happy. If you guys were meant to be together, then the relationship will last. You have plenty of time to get married. As many people know, divorce is awful. Be sure this is what you want before you jump into it. Five months is still early in a relationship. Remember that things always seem great early in the relationship. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

If you are of legal age, you CAN marry someone the moment you meet them...that doesn't mean you should.

At y'alls age my advice would be to wait. I married at 19 (he was 24) and we'd known one another a year...I was too young to marry, and it was his 2nd.

If it's right, waiting won't hurt anything...better to be as sure as you can, than have to deal with the realization that it wasn't a good move, down the road.

Wait at least 12 months...see how you both feel...you're both so young and so many people are waiting until late 20s or more to marry now...don't be in such a rush...marriage is just the legal part, what's in your heart will be there regardless of that piece of paper.

Funny thing is that I'm wondering the same thing... I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend for 5 months now too, and we're talking about marriage already... even eloping. But each couple is different... there's no set amount of time that you have to wait. Whether or not your family and closest friends approve is a HUGE thing... make sure they don't see anything questionable from their perspective before taking that step.

Good luck!

of course you can marry him! BUT you have only been together for 5months...and you are only 19, i think you are too young because you have your whole life ahead of you and choices in life can change...but then again you love, and when you love someone your world is different...trust me, i know. if you wanna go ahead with it then i reckon you shouldnt be engaged for more than 6 months, coz problems might occur and make you want to change your mind.
forget the age difference, its just a number.
hmmm....now your parents....they wont approve eh? you should rethink that, this might sound typical and cheesy but they brought you up and they want whats best for you. put yourself in their shoes, would you be happy if your daughter sacrificed her relationship with you, the person that you cared for, for 19 years, for a man. your relationship with your man might not be all positive (i dont want anything bad to come between you two by the way, im just sayin),and you might regret it. i think you should just wait a few more years...if not then try talk to them and tell them how you feel.

good luck xox.

Of course you CAN marry him, legally, but it wouldn't be wise. You have the whole of your life ahead of you - why do you have to commit NOW? Your love is so strong, but it can't wait another year?
Give yourself a few years to explore the world - go to college, travel abroad, get some work experience, broaden your horizons.
Maybe you'll discover he isn't the one for you - maybe you'll discover you're not the one you thought you were - maybe you'll discover he IS the one, and you can now offer him more than who you were before, a full-grown woman with a wealth of knowledge and life experience.

If you are still determined to get married now, seek pre-marital counseling. They will lead you both through a series of questions and self-evaluations to discover if you are really compatible, and how willing you are to work on your differences. You may think you know his opinion on things, but maybe once you actually discuss it, you'll discover he takes a very different stand from you on child-rearing, finances, arguing styles, etc. Take a week-long trip together - did you enjoy the mundance part of traveling with him, did you get on each other's nerves? Are you prepared to support each other financially, mentally, emotionally, as your lives change together?

Give it some thought. If it's really right, your heart will be able to persevere a thorough and objective examination by your mind.

Has he even asked you?? And maybe you need to think about all the things that come with a marriage - like where are you going to live?..bills to pay
...housework...responsibility

Mum and Dad won't be there to help you every step of the way- I hope you have thought this through...you seem to be blinded by love which is nice but sometimes not practical...PLEASE try not to have an unplanned pregnancy before you are ready no matter how much he says he loves you be careful

As long as you're both sure. My parents married after 3 months and were together for 42 years when my dad passed over. Some people marry after years of dating and it ends in divorce. Others marry after weeks, and it lasts a lifetime. Good luck to you both, be happy, and have a great Christmas
