i'm not sure exactly, you're cat might have just woken up...i've seen this happen. if she as gunk around her eyes, she may have a cold or eye infection. your vet can give you some medication to put around her eyes. i don't think this is something to be concerned about unless you see other symptons. please keep us updated!
........
ok, if she just woke up then you probably don't have anything to worry about. just make sure that it isn't staying visible. if it continually covers part of the eye, this is when you should be concerned. otherwise, you should watch her sleep more! it's a very relaxing pastime!

It's the inner or 3rd eyelid, and it shows slightly in some cats. But if you've had your cat a while, and have not seen this before, it can be a sign of a serious illness. If she's been lethargic or has been acting strange, get her to the vet soon! Even if she seems alright, call the vet and describe what you've seen. It's better to be safe than sorry. Cats are very stoic when they're sick, so anything out of the ordinary can be a symptom of illness.

eye infections are common in cats but if this was the case her eye would be very yukky and possible stuck shut. My guess is what you saw is her third eyelid! Yes - cats have 3 eyelids. the third one is actually a tiny triangle of pinkish or whitish tissue that is sometimes visible in the corner of a cat's eye. This eyelid (haw or rictating membrane is the real name) moves sideways across the eye to protect and lubricate the eye's sensitive surface. If the cat is ill, undernurished or on the verge of becoming ill the presence of the haw is a good indicator that the cat's health isn't up to par. this is a sign to take your cat to the vet.

cats have two eye lids. The first is the one you see all the time when they blink. The second is one you don't normally see and is a protective inner lid for their eyes. The first one goes up and down and the inner one goes side to side. If this is NOT what you are talking about take her to the vet.

This is the cat's third eyelid. It is called a "Nictating Membrane". It helps protect the cat's eye from damage. However, this should barely ever be noticable. I only see my cat's when she's waking up. So if you keep seeing your cat's third eyelid and his eye is glassy looking, watering or squinting you need to take him to your vet. He might be sick.

Cats and dogs have a third eyelid that was what you saw so don't worry. If you are sure that is not it call your local vet maybe they can take a look at it.

That is normal. I wouldn't worry about it, just keep an eye on it. If her eye starts gumming up she may have an infection in her eye, that vet can give you meds for. However if she is acting normal and is eating and drinking ok I am sure everything is fine.

heh, its perfectly normal!
Its a second covering on their eye to protect their eyes while they are hunting in the dark and don't get poked by a tree branch or anything else sharp.
It seems freaky but believe me, they can do some even freakier things than that!

You probably saw her third eyelid. Unless it doesn't go back into hiding after the cat wakes up, there's nothing to worry about.

Could it have been the inner eye lid? Cats and dogs can have up to 3 eye lids.
