I personally think there are many paths to a destination. I would consider myself a Christian, but I don't think atheists or folks of other religions are going to hell by default. If you live a good life, whatever your religion (or lack of one), you'll be just fine. Whether you're Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, Hindu... Just live a good life, try and treat people the way you want to be treated, and your afterlife will be in accordance.

If you are an atheist, you probably get mad when someone talks about Jesus. That means you are just as elite as the person who is slamming religion down your throat.

There are millions upon millions of religious folk out there, that do not believe that Jesus was his own Father etc etc.BS-BS-BS!
So we are now to understand that 'heaven' is just a small community of Christians? I suppose the Christian groups up there will be segregated into different sects, depending on which Christian branch of the religion they follow?
Perhaps the Roman Catholics should have the best plots?
But that wasnt the question was it? How do I feel when some one tells me this? I feel really really sorry for the giver of this information, it is a shame .

Conviction.
IF there is a God, (and I know there is), to me it only makes sense only HE could be the means for us to get to heaven. Humankind's situational ethics and logic just don't cut it for me. If you believe in God, decide who He is. Wouldn't God, being Love, Mercy, Perfection, Holiness, provide the way for us. Its not something earned, its a gift. THe rest is me trying to do as much good as I can, in thankfulness in response to that.

My only other choice is to say its the survival of the fittest, and all this was just some weird cosmic coincidence. I find that much more ridiculous to believe.

So, if there is God, wouldn't He be perfect to you.

People generally think that's narrow minded. But truth in a sense is narrow. 1 + 1 = 2 is narrow minded since all other answers are wrong.

Like I just heard the truth.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I respect their opinion, after all they are speaking their own personal truth. That does not mean that it is MY truth. I have a more eclectic outlook and believe more strongly in striving to be a good person and help others at every opportunity rather than follow any set doctrine. But that is MY truth - but not everyone else's.

I think the key is to be tolerant of other people's beliefs so that we can all find a way to co-exist peacefully.

What I have said to people who profess things like Jesus is the only saviour, is that at the end of it all, I will be accountable to the Divine for my actions and in-actions, as will they for theirs. So if they truly believe that I may be in jeopardy of eternal damnation, then by all means, feel free to pray for my eternal soul, but please respect my choices as I respect theirs.

When I was uninformed I thought they were biased.

When I actually read the New Testament, I found out that this was not their opinion, it actually says this in the bible. This made me want to look closer at what else it said.

Today, I agree with them.

I believe them. Its says so in the Bible and the Bible is True.

John 14:6

Jesus anwered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me."

I block them out entirely because I dont agree. I have outgrown the desire to have a discussion about it. I can get real nasty on the subjest and I dont like how it makes me feel. Of course I will discuss my spirituality with a real friend...

I am bothered by it. I don't think telling the world they are going to Hell if they don't change their ways is loving them.

The greatest commandment is, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself" Matthew 22:37-39

I think when you alienate people, Jesus is upset that we are not following his example. Love, serve, accept.
