1 stick=8 tablespoons=1/2 cup
Trust me...and you could also find this out by looking on the paper surrounding the stick of butter...it has the measurments and marks.

Standard 16 oz package of butter or margarine has 4 sticks.
Each stick is 1/2 cup. Most have the measurements printed on the individual stick wrapping.
Usually, they show tablespoon, 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 cup increments.
Again, 1/2 cup being one whole stick.
