No. Shaving the hair on any part of a person's body isn't going to make it grow back thicker. That's just a myth. A person has a set number of hair follicles, and shaving can't create more. It can't increase the hair legnth either. The hair might grow back feeling a little more coarse, but certainly not thicker. You don't want to run around with unshaven underarms anyway do you?

That never happened to me. I shaved for years and then I stopped for months, just to see what would happen. At first it seemed to be thicker but as it all grew in, the hair seemed to get softer and more fine. The hair reached a certain point and stopped growing. It was not long at all. I've heard that it seems thicker at first because each individual piece of hair has a flat, chopped off tip from shaving so it looks and feels thicker. The natural hair that grows in has a sharper and more fine tip. Maybe it's different for everyone but it didn't happen to me.

No it is not true. It's a hair myth. You can read about it here... http://snopes.com/oldwives/hairgrow.asp
If this were true, do you know how many people would be shaving their heads to have darker and thicker hair? I would be one of them, but I have enough sense in me to know this is a farce. Not to mention...Look at men's legs or your own pubic hair. The hair grows in naturally like this, dark and thick, and of course more darker and thicker if you have dark hair to begin with. From personal experience, when my pubic hair started growing in, it was the same color and texture it is now and I shave regularly. The reason hair looks thicker when it's shaven is because the razor cuts the hairs blunt, which makes the hair appear thicker. When a hair grows out on it's own or when the hair is plucked or is melted by Nair or Veet, the tip is thinner and it makes the hair look thin and shorter.

It doesnt actually grow back thicker it just appears as tough it does. Uncut hair has a fine tipped end and gets thicker as it goes down the shaft. When you shave you are chopping that hair off right in the middle. So when it grows out, that fine pointed tip becomes a flat thicker end.
Wax if you want the hair to appear fine again. Armpits are probably the most painful spot to wax so i would suggest grtting it prefesionally done so you dont have as much of a chance of chickening out

Every person is different. I find that it grows faster, but not thicker. As for the "longer" part, it won't get long if you shave it.

No, it isn't true. Cutting does not stimulate new growth. If it did, people going bald would have an easy time fixing it.
It seems like shorter hair is thicker then longer hair, and it's easier to notice the growth - but that's just what we're noticing with our eyes.

Yeah, it is true. It is a good idea to use some hair removal program or shave with Nair or Veet or something, because that helps remove some of the roots and therefore, makes the hairs not grow back this way. If the hairs have already grown back thicker and longer, I still believe that if you switch to Nair or Veet, that you will see a difference in the not too distant future.
