do i think there will be winters in 20-30 yrs? of course..number one, winter is merely a name given to that particular time of year. secondly global warming is a concept blown WAY out of proportion. while there may be some merit to the environmentalists arguments, for the most part, they dont even totally understand what the heck they're talking about. just watch your local news channel..when the weather comes on and they show you the high low and record for that day...a lot of record highs came over 70 yrs ago....and if anything, the things we do that supposedly aggravate global warming..well our output is multiple times greater now than then. Also, the environmentalists argue that the reason we're having all these worldwide disasters is due to global warming effects....maybe partially, but the warming is on a cyclical basis, which is a proven concept, it will go cooler again eventually..what the heck are we going to be doing that environmentalists can blame for that? and for all their hype..last i checked...floods, hurricanes, fires, etc..happened well prior to 1880. I could go on forever here most likely, but i'm sure you get my opinionations here.

It depends where you are. Parts of the world will probably get a lot warmer. Other places will get a lot colder due to changing ocean currents. So Britain will have winters like New Foundland instead of Oregon.
Warming seas could have other nasty effects, California may find itself on the coast of a warm ocean with few fish instead of a cold one with lots of fish (El Nino kills the fish and starves the marine mamals). That could also yield rain like Florida instead of near desert climate CA has right now. In some science fiction they talk about 'Armada Storms', basically hurricanes that make the current ones look like a gentle breeze. If the energy in the atmosphere increases hugely it will make itself felt. Maybe F8 tornados (we are going to need to extend the category systems) five miles across that stay on the ground for a day?
Interesting times.

Winter will get colder if the earth continues to warm.
I know that this sounds crazy but I will explain this.
The warming of the earth causes the polar ice caps to melt. The polar ice caps are made of pure water, not salt water. The introduction of this water causes the salinity of the oceans to decrease. This decrease in salintiy will reduce the gulf stream and cause the circulation of warm water northward to slow or stop in the North Atlantic. This in turn will cause a minor ice age, such as the Little Ice Age, to occur in the Northen Hemisphere.

I hope so. Winters suck in Canada. Bring on global warming. This is one of the warmest Decembers weve ever had and i look forward to even warmer. I hate the cold.

Here's what I keep thinking about all of this - people find a piece of writing or see a documentary and it compels them. They attach themselves to it like a parasite and won't let go. There's a whole bunch of people who (seemingly) have made An Inconvenient Truth their new bible. They apparently don't care how much of it is fact and how much is fiction. They glomb onto it because, hey, it's Al Gore. So now they are on the big Al Gore, the sky's going to fall unless we fix it, bandwagon. Then there are the people on the far extreme who say, "Naw, it's ALL a bunch of bunk." Well, personally, I'm not quite there. I like to take my education in Earth & Atmospheric Science and read all the data and hypotheses and theories and say, "Yes, something is happening and the experts can't agree on what." So, I ask you; if the experts can't agree, how does Al Gore know the definitive answer? So, in answer to your question; no one knows, not even Al Gore who invented the internet. The earth has the means to be self repairing IF IT WANTS TO.

Scientists use the term "climate change" instead of "global warming". We still do not fully understand the longer climatic cycles the Earth follows so it's somewhat premature to make such sweeping assumptions that so-called "global warming" will be the ruination of ski resort operators!

Yes dear, there will be winters. The real problem is the environmentalist wacko religeon frightening the youth, like yourself into believing the myth of human caused "global warming". We humans really don't have climate changing capability. Be happy, live life, and let the world function, it will.
