I asked a question earlier for some boy advice. A lot of people said that I was way too young. lmao!! you people do know that a lot of things have changed now. at least in my town. a lot of people my age, even some younger than me, are having relationships. They may not be serious ones, but they are going out. I'd suggest you get used to it. My question is when did you start dating?

I had a "boyfriend" in 6th grade. All we did was hold hands and eat lunch together. But, my first real date was in 9th grade. I don't think dating is that big of a deal. Parents do need to get used to it! As long as you show your parents you are mature and they can trust you, they will let you go.

How old are you anyways??

I don't remember dating in any formal sense but I remember, you know, getting together with girls when I was eleven and twelve - kissing and that kind of thing. And it escalated quite quickly from there to 'going steady' and more intimate things. I am now in my early forties. So I don't think that things have changed that much. I don't think there should be any set date for young people to get together. The key is that you try to act responsibly and treat each other with respect and caring. A lot of parents nowadays seem to be trying to go back to the fifties and they want their kids to be sixteen or seventeen before they date. That seems ridiculous to me. I have four kids and my oldest girl was going out with boy when she was thirteen and we let her go on the pill when she was just turned sixteen. She made some mistakes along the way but she did OK because we treated her with respect and love and she is now a fine young woman of whom we are very proud. We let her boyfriend stay over when she was seventeen because it was better that they had a safe place to be together and it worked out fine. There is no date to start, just try to be the best person you can and treat others well and it will work out.

Sorry for the long answer but I was honestly trying to be helpful

Take care

I wasn't allowed to go on a date alone with a boy until I was 16. My daughters won't either I've even thought about setting it at 17. I don't care what other people do, my children and their safety is my top priority...............................
