i work in the mental health profession. i will tell you every that in the facility i work for and others that i know of don't even allow the exchange of gifts between staff/doctors and clients...period. there are a number of reasons why and it would all depend on your situation.
my suggestion would be if you are going to do anything at all, send a card of appreciation. better yet, tell your therapist yourself. no other gifts are really appropriate.
(sound like a pretty sweet client though! very thoughtful.....happy holidays!)

I agree with emily but it is your choice to give or not. If your therapist has helped alot or made an impact on your life that you want to thank them for then by all means. A card can mean alot.

Sure, if it's in your heart. Why not an apple, oh sorry that's teachers. Why not a little king james bible if they don't have one yet. I've heard a testimony before about a physco (therapist) being friends with a girl whose mother is an evangelist and she was given a bible and extracted God's words as her advice and obviously had much better results than handing out her own advice... God bless your Christmas and new year.

You pay this individual, so unless you want to give a Christmas bonus, I suggest in keeping the gift small. A card and some small token of something is all that is needed. Anymore and it will look too ostentatious.

This question is an exercise in codependence. A therapist works for you, not the other way around.

convinced you may. you may also supply the guy with the perfect answer a present besides for assisting you by skill of this difficult determination. i'm wondering a Mustang perchance ;) ok. Bullwinkle is nice. likely only a card and a thanks. flora in case you opt for him to get a mixed message...we adult men are not too bright at the same time as it contains understanding what's for what with out having it spelled out for us.

It may be inappropriate for YOU to give a gift, but your other personalities should feel free to give gifts.

Just something small -- a card with a personal message thanking him or her for their help, along with a bit of candy. It will be appreciated!
