Not when you reduce the saturated fat content (ie cocoa butter)
Dark chocolate (the kind with 60% or higher in cacao) has a type of chemical compounds, phytochemicals & anti-oxidants, that are proven to reduce LDL cholesterol by 8%-10% in test subjects. This results in healthier arterys (and fewer heart attacks).
Red wine has similar properties....
Basically, chocolate is best taken in moderation. "Milk Chocolate" (the typical "Hershey Bar") is useless in fighting cholesterol, and is very fattening. Dark chocolate is MY favorite, so fortunately there are lots of great choices out there:
1) "Dove" Dark Chocolate (love their little heart-shaped ones at Valentine's Day)
2) "Lindt" Lindor Truffles (Dark Chocolate with choc filling)
3) "Droste" Bittersweet Chocolate (72% cacao)
4) (last resort) Hershey "Special Dark" (51% cacao): this type makes great "S'mores" (graham cracker, marshmallow, & chocolate sandwiches).
About 1.5 oz of dark chocolate (72% cacao), would be ideal amount per day.

Depends on the chocolate. Milk chocolate is highest in sugar. Dark chocolate is low in sugar though and cocao powder is unsweetened. Cocao powder is best for you but dark chocolate and bittersweet have low sugar contents and are high in antioxidants. Also white chocolate has no cocao solids so it can not be legally called chocolate in the united states of america

no! not when you don't eat too much and that it's not packed with sugar and all... rich dark chocolate is ok... it can contain up to 98% cocoa! it doesn't make you fatter either.... but obviously, white chocolate isn't healthy - it's almost completely made out of cocoa butter which isn't healthy. and milk chocolate contains less cocoa butter but also less cocoa so it's greaier as well but a little once in a while won't hurt you!
