Hi all you cooks, I am going to bake a pumpkin roll for my children for christmas desert. You know I mix up sugar, eggs, flour, pumpkin and bake it in a jelly roll pan. then fill it with cream cheese and roll it up. Problem is I ran out of wax paper. Have any of you ever used tin foil instead? I know I am supposed to grease the wax paper before I put in the mixture to bake, and leave a couple of inches on each side so I can lift the cake out after I bake it. But would it hurt anything if I use tin foil instead and treat it as if it were wax paper. I mean have any of you ever done this, used tin foil instead. If it will ruin the cake, I can go to the store for wax paper, but my car is in shop and I will have to walk 4 blocks. So if it is possible I will go ahead and use tin foil. Thank You

I've made them without wax paper, but if you've always used it, go out for a nice walk and get it. You'll be really sad if you try something different and are disappointed with the results.

I don't think it will ruin the cake, but it might make it a little too brown / dry. Use the non-shiny side of the foil and make sure and grease it well. Check it often so it does not over cook. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
