Dry Ice is simply solid, compressed CO2 (carbon dioxide) which is the same thing as what carbonates soft drinks (coke, pepsi, etc.) Yes, it's very cold, and direct contact can cause localized cases of frostbite (what a lot of people call "burns").
Putting pieces of dry ice in a punchbowl (as an example) will give a nifty fog effect while the dry ice thaws and trasitions directly from solid to gas (the bubbles). While it can't make the drink (assuming it's non-alcoholic) any colder than 32 F before it freezes.
There are no "chemicals" in dry ice. It is not toxic any more than a fizzy beverage is. It's perfectly safe to have dry ice in whatever beverage you're serving, but make sure you take measures to prevent partiers from actually getting the dry ice itself in their mouths.

Yeah it is! I learned this in science the other day. If you add dry ice to a beverage it is safe and consumable. It also carbonates the beverage. If it is punch or something it will add carbonation and will probably taste a lot better! Hope I helped and have fun!

yeah its safe but effects not going to last long enough or really be that good of an effect without a lot of other expensive equipment that affects the rooms temperature and humidity
i put a big piece of dry ice in water but the piece cooled and stopped fogging before it melted
it works really well mixing it with a fog machine...causes the fog to be heavier and stay on the ground longer

I wouldnt reccomend it as the gas the dry ice gives off is carbon dioxide in some form which is unhealthy to directly inhale. then again I may be wrong but worth looking into.

Don't serve it ! The freezing point of CO2 is -109.3°F or -78.5°C.
If you give someone a glass with Dry Ice in it and they touch the dry ice with their lips, tongue or fingers, they will be permanently scarred.
( and you will be sued)
Use it to take off warts or something, but don't let people that have bring drinking get near it.

dry ice is just the way to lower drinks temperature, drinks should not get in touch with the chemical , just wipe bottles before serving, and it is consumable. real ice is not the same cous when you prepare it it is from clear clean water, and you can mix'em with the drink directly.

it might be too cold to drink. Your guests may freeze dry their tongues.
