Your friend was psychologically disturbed. There are valid reasons to end your life, but they involve suffering great pain in a hopeless situation that is beyond any ones control. There is nothing after life but the worms that reduce you to dust (worm-poop). The alternative to life is the end of reality for the individual, so the choice to end it has to be based on a much worse scenario.

Death is equal to non-existence.
You become just like you were before you were born.
That is ......nothing, non-existent.
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 backs up this idea.
This includes the soul. Ezekial 18:4 backs up that idea.
Jesus compared death to sleep. John 11: 11-14.
Your friend is not suffering.
If he thought suicide was a solution, then his life must have been terrrible even though he did not speak about it.
OR
He was mis-led by someone about the benefits of death.
What's for the future?
Jesus spoke of a time when he would re-make those who have died.
Jesus used the word 'resurrection'.
John 5:28,29.
Not resurrected to live in heaven, but to live forever on this earth transformed into a paradise.

I had a friend who committed suicide too. We should realize that the Bible says that we should not kill/murder which includes ourselves. So it is a sin to commit suicide. The Bible doesn't promote it and I think the lack of a relationship with God allowed the devil room to fill your friends mind with despair.

1. How did we get here in the first place?

Adam was created by God in the beginning.
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7.

Answer: God made us from dust in the beginning.

2. What happens when a person dies?

The spirits of both the righteous and the wicked return to God. Their bodies return to dust.
"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7.

Answer: The body turns to dust again, and the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. The spirit of every person who dies--whether righteous or wicked--returns to God at death.

3. What is the "spirit" that returns to God at death?

There is nothing mysterious about the spirit that returns to God at death. It is the breath of life.
"The body without the spirit ["breath," see margin] is dead." James 2:26. "The spirit of God ["the breath which God gave him," see margin] is in my nostrils." Job 27:3.

Answer: The spirit that returns to God at death is the breath of life. Nowhere in all of God's book does the "spirit" have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the "breath of life" and nothing more.

4. What is a "soul"?

These four people are four souls.
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7.

Answer: A soul is a living being. A soul is always a combination of two things: body plus breath. A soul cannot exist unless body and breath are combined. God's Word teaches that we are souls.

5. Do souls die?

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Ezekiel 18:20. "Every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3.

Answer: According to God's Word, souls do die! We are souls, and souls die. Man is mortal (Job 4:17). Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15, 16). The concept of an undying, immortal soul goes against the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death.

6. Do good people go to heaven when they die?

"All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth." John 5:28, 29. "David ... is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day." "For David is not ascended into the heavens." Acts 2:29, 34. "If I wait, the grave is mine house." Job 17:13.

Answer: No, people do not go either to heaven or hell at death. They go to their graves to await the resurrection day. King David will be saved in God's kingdom. However, he is in his grave now, where he awaits the resurrection.

In a suicide you are taking your own life, God does not take it! Your friend committed suicide, because he was depressed and not happy with his life on earth. We all have to do the best, with what we are given! suicide is not the answer! And if you want to know what happens after death, wait until God is ready to take you!

The beginning of Life!
You will become much more aware/conscious after leaving the 3D dimension of time and space.
But remember the only place you can resolve your 'Karma' is in the 3D world.
That is why we are here to learn our lessons and master the Laws of Life/Light/Physics.
I consider what he did as the biggest mistake he has ever made in his life. It is extremely difficult to get a body. As soon as he step through the veil of 'forgetfulness' he became aware of his mistake and I am sure he is suffering greatly because of this awareness.

The thing is sweetie, you will never know....because he is not here to tell you. Its something that you shouldn't dwell on. Your friend would want you to be happy instead of worrying about the cause of his death...maybe one day you will be able to know why...just don't stress about it...
