you are looking for a fiber optic "Y" cable.

they're very expensive

at the same time.. i don't see why are you doubling up. the Z5500 is pretty loud on it's own, unless you live in an arena. but that's just me.

with out doubt you receives a procedures better sound with the digital connection. different posters have already referred to the numerous technical causes, which incorporates that the digital connection will be able to furnish you 5.a million DD sound. right that is the important reason you need to connect with digital. A receiver is specially focussed on audio high quality and that's going to decode the digital alerts and turn them decrease back into analog to force your audio equipment with more beneficial electronics and for that reason furnish you with a a lot purifier sound. until eventually you've a $one hundred and fifty receiver and $5000 television. You did not factor out your source, or speaker setup. Heres a tip: once you've encompass audio equipment, both 5.a million or 7.a million with a sub, and examine a audio/video source that ought to provide 5.a million sound, which includes a DVD participant or severe Def cable/sattelite field, then you extremely ought to hurry and connect with a digital cable. once you've neither encompass audio equipment nor a digital sound source, you may take a at the same time as. Do it once you improve. Tip2: do not connect your television sound to the receiver, connect the source, and turn the television pontificate. a lot more beneficial. television audio equipment are frequently not good.

on the website I am read it says

Input: Select audio source (optical, coax, or direct

that means that it has to have both, the Onkyo should have one of both the Optical and the coax, both digital

you can hook you coax to 1 and the optcal to the other

and yea a Y cable would work too, I think that Radio shack has them

good luck

or you can return them a buy 1 700 unit and then it would be sound better and deeper and you would have a whole lot less wire to run

For one what you really need is a way to power or amplify your DVD player sound , so your speakers are louder than a whisper, unless your speakers are powered speakers. My suggestion is that :
1.you purchase a receiver to power your speakers or,
2. You find a way to connect your DVD player to your computer and play your speakers through it.
