something shiny with no miles or dents and smells like a new car.

It depends on what their personal needs are. Maybe great efficiency with fuel, maybe lots of power or lots of seating so they don't have to illegally put a 4th seatbelt in the back of their car.

Most want the biggest bang for the buck. Lots of options for little money. Great dependability from a cheap unknown manufacturer. A huge 4X4 that seats 12, goes from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, doesn't roll over and gets like 100 miles to a gallon.
If you are selling cars then you have to listen to what they say and try to point them in the right direction.
If you buying a car go kick tires and see what appeals to your eyes, then do some research at a library or online, consumer reports or automobile club reports. Then try to find the middle line.

Happy Holidays and good luck

i look for quality,,reliability, and also warranty,,all of these play a big role in buying a car,and one is as important as the other one is,because a car is an investment,,and unlike money a car looses value fast,,so you have to make the best choice you can when buying one, also reputation of a car helps a lot,,good luck hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

ive never bought a new car but i would look at price, gas milage, reliability, functionality, what will you use it for? i also would look at how good it looks, dont buy an ugly car like those ugly toyota hybrids and scion cars. (i do like the scion XB tho) but i like cool cars like the dodge charger, nitro, magnum. the christler 300C, the ford mustang GT. or if you need a truck, get a ford. and depending on what you will use it for, look at F150, F250, or F350. and if you are gonna be pulling stuff look at V8 but if you want better milage look at a V6.

besides price, milege, and reliability, I like to have enough room for my legs and enough room inside ,you know just sitting and driving is what your gonna do, you might as well be comfortable especially if you take any trips. if your thinking new new Id get a new 1yr old that could save you 3000
