It is possible but why don't you try doing something totally mind blowing like going to work on a project or go travelling abroad, to get you out of the rut. It is probably that you have low self esteem and if you did something really helpful and adventurous you would feel better about yourself. Why not try looking up charities that do work abroad and need some help. I expect you could raise any travel cost by sponsorship if the charity will not pay. I am sure if you are doing something for charity, your friends/family/acquantences or local businesses would sponsor you. If you are tied down with financial commitments then you could do something locally for charity. It would give you an interest and make you feel better about yourself and I know you know you are lucky but actually seeing other peoples' plights would bring it home to you what you have in life and learn to truly appreciate it. It would also make you a much more interesting person and people would want to talk to you as you would have something interesting to say. It is difficult for friends and family to have to listen to your problems all the time when they cannot see what is wrong. I do sympathise with you, as I have felt depressed before too. But doing positive things will make you feel better about yourself and therefore enrich your life. If all else fails, you must seek further help from your GP as self harming is not good.

You mention 'school grades' your obviously still growing, adapting to the world and being female your hormones will be all over the place!! Your probably one of a million girls that feel like this as they are growing up.

It wont do you any harm to visit your psychiatrist, just to be on the safe side however ask about treatment through psychology & cognitive therapy rather than taking medication as antidepressants are difficult to get off, and can sometimes make the situation worse.

You need to start thinking optimistically, take a look at yourself in the mirror, as you say you have nice friends, family etc...imagine how many people dont have this? How many are going to be alone this christmas, people living on the streets and those too poor to buy their kids christmas presents.
You sound ike you have a fantastic life sweetie, lap it up as tomorrow it could all be gone.

Talking can do wonders, sit down with your mum/dad/sister/ best friend etc, tell them how your feeling, that you self harm, they will be there for you!
Are you selfharming as this is the only thing you control in your life? Or do you do it when you've had bad day or an argument with someone close?
If its control, ask your parents for more responsibility, take up a hobby/job to distract you.

Everyone has times in their life where things are tough and hard to cope with, we all have to deal with them and get on with our lifes hunni, there is always someone there who will help, support and guide you through these times!

take care xx

First of all, I have never heard of a doctor that tells you when YOUR depression is gone. It should be the other way around. Maybe you can see another doctor. Some of the foods that we eat and the chemicals we use could possibly be the culprit of some of your symptoms. It could also be a hormonal imbalance. Do you get enough sleep? Is there something that happened that you are trying to hide? Are you giving your body the proper nutrition it needs to function? What do think would make you happy? What I am trying to get at is the fact that there could be several reasons for the way you feel.

Depresssion is an illness - sometimes there is no significant cause, but usually there is an underlying reason.

What thoughts are going thru your head when u r upset/self harm? This is a good indicator of why you are unhappy (Eg; 'I am useless'....this indicates you have low self esteem or negative beliefs about yourself)

It may help to write down the feelings and thoughts you experience when u feel unhappy, to determine the cause.

I self harmed for 6 years, until i almost died from a wound. i haven't done it since, though have had on-off depression for 9 years and would like you to know, you're not alone!!

God Bless You
:-)

My thoughts are with you hon, but please go to a doctors to check about this. Sometimes theres no reason at all for feeling down and tierd, we all just get like that.
As for self harming, you know youve a problem there because you know its wrong. When I felt like harming myself when i ws younger, i instead checked my finances and got myself a piercing! Much prettier and these you can show off! (apart from my naughty 1!) Theres been times when i thought i needed a bit of pain release but by the time i get organised to go to the piercers, id have thought about my feelings and realised i just need to forget and get on with things and then i dont need this pain anymore! Even if you dont want a piercing, a tattoo works the same. Please dont hurt yourself anymore, my sis did it and now she regrets not having nice arms, but atleast she now has a few nice piercings and some lovely tattoos.

depression is not affected by material posessions, or economic status. It is a medical condition cause by unbalanced brain chemistry, maily concerning dopamine and seratonin. If you feel tired without cause, a lack of motivation, or anything like it, get a physical to rule out a physical cause. Then if you get the ok, see a psychologist. Medication can help.

as its happened before its more likely to be depression. you could go see the pychologist again. but i would advise against trying to deal with your problems with prescribed drugs. you could start to use them as a crutch and they are really only there as a last resort. otherwise talk to a close friend, who you really trust, about it. you dont have to tell them everything obviously, but it helps just to see someone elses point of view about something. something huge to you may, objectively not be that important.
also try and find some other outlet for your hatred, join a new club or start playing an instrument. if youre too busy to think about life youll be too busy to think about how much you hate it. if that doesnt appeal, then try holding ice instead of actually cutting (?) its not as intense and you might be able to wean yourslef off it that way.

You can go back to your psychologist and ask. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Depression can be caused by life events or a chemical imbalance. The psychologist can diagnose you and you can go on for help. It is good you can even recognize possible depression in yourself.

I think it sounds like you have had a "relapse" of your previous depression. You feel tired and unable to concentrate. These symptoms you listed match exactly with depression. Go back to your psychologist and tell them this.

Try with meditation or low music.Don't think about problems and do not read the news.It may help.
On the other hand you may not be in depression but just because as you say, you're happy and you don't have big problem you just don't know what to do and you're life is loosing its meaning.
But I think that you're just tired.Have a rest and everything will be alright.I promise.
