You should tell your best friend WITH his sister beside you.
Tel him he's your friend and that you love him and that you value the friendship the two of you have. Look him in the eyes and then look at his sister and put your arm around her. Tell him that the two of you are now seeing each other, and that you love her as well. Then have the sister tell him that she loves you, and then at that point you should say that you don't want the relationship between you and his sister to ruin the friendship between the two of you, and tell him that you've been seeing his sister for a bit but were afraid to say anything because of what he might think, feel or do. Then give him a chance to speak.
If you tell him respectfully, chance are that even if he gets angry that he'll understand.

No, its not wrong. It happens that many people meet thru family members and get married. I know many in my church.
I think your friend doesnt want it interfering with your relationship with him if it went sour.
Dont hide it, it will ruin the friendship. You need to both be honest or it looks shadey and will be a negative instead of a positive. Plus, he might kick your *** for sneaking around with his sister.
I dont know how old you are but I hope old enough to be mature about it. Be a man. Show him you have integrity that is worthy of his little sister.

Maybe she should tell her family about you and not the other way around, because that is what I would do. This is her family and if they know you for so long it should not be a problem, unless they think you are not suitable for her for other reasons. nevertheless she should sit them down and say that she feels for you and it is her and yours choice. If she is underage then they may be able to put a stop to this and then you two have to wait it out.

It's not wrong to date your best friends sister BUT it is wrong to keep it from him or to go behind his back and do it. Your are wrong for lying and sneaking around with his sister, you both should tell him together and the father, if you guys are of age and are willing to be responsible with your actions things should work out for the best.
