If he seriously has body odor that he can't control he needs to see the doc to be sure there is no medical cause for his odor. Encourage him to see the doc and get checked out.

You sound like a very good friend. 1st he must rule out any medical condition. The doctor also can give him prescription anti-perspirant/deodorant if the otc ones don't work well. Maybe he could change his diet b/c things you eat affect the odors your body produces. Parsley is a great odor neutralizer. So may be he could eat a couple sprigs at every meal. He may also have to shower more often than others to keep himself clean. Also he can try shaving his armpits etc. b/c hair holds bacteria & increases the chances of your body producing foul odors. It's really difficult to keep hair clean, so if you have no use for it (armpits, genitals, mics body & facial hair) just get rid of it or clip it where it's easier to keep clean. He could take a shower twice daily, and pack with him some personal cleaning wipes or diaper wipes & clean himself periodically during the day & reapply his deodorant. He should also use a spray anti-perspirant/deodorant all over his body, not just the armpits. He should use it in all the places that sweat & produce body odors such as the groin area etc. All of these tips should help him to keep smelling nice.

Putting on scented colognes and deodorants can offend some people just as badly as body odor. Try unscented Mitchum antipersperant. I had a problem with body odor and it is an antiperspirant that really works. Eat strawberries to help sweeten breath.

The body odor is caused by bacteria on his skin.
I would recommend phisoderm, or even a facial wash like stidex that has a strong antibacterial component. Phisoderm is best.
Also, follow his underarms and genetal area with an astringent on a cotton ball. (he could also shave his balls) Then follow using spray deoderant on his genital area and under his arms.
This will work.
:)

I suggest you see a skin specialist and maybe he/she can prescribe a potent anti-perspirant/deodorant. My sister had this problem with sweating and she was referred to a skin specialist.

I agree with the other poster that says go see a doc. Also, his diet could be the cause.
