Assume that we have a canvas and want to paint "HELLO" on it,
using only two colors, one for background and one for "HELLO".
Here is my question, can you give me an estimate of the number of combination of colors that can be used for the background and "Hello" that would be pleasing for human's eyes and a painter can produce that easily.i'm clueless, just give me a number, for nstance more than 100,more than 1000.
I'd appreciate your help.

I agree with Oobily but you have to be very careful when using compliments (opposite colors on the color wheel) If you use to intense of colors you will make it stand out to much and really be harsh on the eyes. You can first take the compliments that you are thinking of using take one of thos colors and paint on a seperate sheet a semi-big square then in the center of that put the other color that way you can see how the colors will react with each other. Remember color is everything and you want to make sure you are giving off the right impression when doing this. Good Luck!

Of what significance would an answer to the question of number be to you? And, what does the relationship to number of color combinations have do with the word "hello?" I presume that there is a relationship, such as a need to make a nametag or sign. "Pleasing to the eye" is a really subjective criterion, as it is personal preference and everyody interprets that differently. So, what are you really asking?????? Here's an anwser: More than 10. That covers every other number more than 10.

Background-Letters
Caramel-Burgundy (it's the most relaxing for the eyes)
Pale green(dusty)-Chocolate(or a dark Burnt Sienna)
Yellow-Dark Blue
You catch the drift.
The variations could be numberless since you can do it in every tone of a single color(example:peach and chocolate, moss green and sienna)
Always pair a pale color for the background and a bold(not flashy) color for the letters. The combinations you have there are the best because they go with every decoration style.
Please try them even just to see try them on your paint program first just to get the idea.

If you want your HELLO to stand out, use colors that are opposite on the color wheel. If you want the contrast to be softer, use colors that are not opposite. if you take the color out of the tube, you will be able to reproduce the same color time and again. another hint, use dark and light contrast and make the HELLO stand out by using an intensely pigmented color, not a transparent one
