last night i got really mad at my bf and said i was going hone, i grabbed my purse and ran upstairs, where my dog got ahead of me. i tried to grab for her so that i could shoo her back downstairs but instead she caught my hand in her mouth and pulled and pulled until she pulled me into the living room. i was so upset by this point that i locked myself in the bathroom while i sobbed hysterically. she just sat outside the down clawing at it, howling and crying for like 20 minutes. she never acts like that.

did she know i was upset and trying to leave? do you think she thought i was abandoning her? or do you think she just knew i was really upset?

i ended up crying myself back to my senses and didnt leave and then she was fine like nothing happened.

Aussie shepherds are herding dogs. She would have heard the argument and she was probably upset and didn't know what to do so she reverted back to her herding instinct. When you left to go upstairs, she was most likely trying to keep the herd and pack together so she made you come back down.

She would have definitely known that you were upset and that your boyfriend was upset. Dogs do react quite strongly to these situations.

Dogs have a very keen sense of your emotions, it is like a sixth sense to them. They can sense alomost any emotion, as well as your feelings toward other people. I have a yellow Lab who is intuned to everyone especially me. He is young so usually he is hyper and getting into trouble, but themoment he knows I am upset he is right by side trying to do anything to comfort me. He is also very friendly but if we get around someone I do not like he acts very protective and will not let that person come near me.
When my brother was dying my dog was only 10 weeks old, but still every morning he would climb up on the wheelcahir next to my brothers bed and just let my brother pet him. He was never calm.
When my brother was dying the wee before he past his dog would go under his bed, and shake and cry every day at the same time. A week later my brother died at that time. I was at home when my brother past away and I knew even before I got the call because his dog just started to howl and cry uncontrolably. They just feel things and do not need to understand it in our wods.
Hope things are good with you and your boyfriend and continue to work out.

Oh she absolutely knew you were upset! Dogs are so good about that! They are protective to their owners physical and mental health, I think. My newfoundland is the same way. When I'm sick he will not leave the foot of my bed. You have a sweet little dog!

Dogs an cats seem to have a sence of when you are happy, sad, upset, and angry. They always eem to make things better so put your trust in her. She loves you and she knows when to come in and when to leave. Try talking to your BF and see if you guys can work things out.

Good Luck

She was either biting you because you dissed her master and she was taking you downstairs so your bf could punish you or you just finished eating a roast beef sandwich and she was trying to get you outside so she could bury your hand and save it for later.
