I live in the upstairs at my g-ma's house and she keeps it at like 80 downstairs, heat rises and its so hot up here. I've opened the windows but then it gets too cold. I closed all the vents upstairs. I walk around nearly (if not) naked already...Any advise to moderate the temp without all the hot and cool spots?
Thank you.

We have a similar problem in our home. Our bedroom gets so hot because of the way the sun hits it besides the heat from downstairs. We use a ceiling fan. There is a switch on the base of the ceiling fan that you change for cool to warm. We keep it in cooling mode (the direct of the blades either pulls warm are up or pushes warm air down). This helps the most.
You may want to talk to your grandmother about lowering it just a few notches, she will save on energy costs. It's also very hard on your immune system to go back and forth between radical temperature changes.
Can you open the window just a 1/2 inch or so? That might help as well.
Good luck I am totally sympathetic! We will soon be going to my inlaws for Christmas and there we have the opposite problem, my father in law is too cheap to heat!

I used to have the same difficulty.. no matter if i had one fan contained in the room go away it on once you're not any further contained in the room and it is going to cool it off for once you're contained in the room..once you've curtains or blinds keep them up or the curtains open.. also once you've a pc turn it off at evening that would generate a large number of warm temperature alongside with electronics.. carpeting could also make a room hotter so even perchance taking away carpet yet that isn't be an determination for you in spite of the undeniable fact that it may artwork

I love to sleep cold. It doesn't get that cold here in Texas. I keep the window open and the ceiling fan going, plus a rotating fan. I would suggest opening the window just a little and using a rotating fan. Also the ceiling fan if you one.

I heat my house with wood, so it gets quite hot in the winter. I generally just close off the bedroom a couple hours before I go to bed. I do leave the door open halfway so I don't wake up frozen in the morning.

BTW Nekkid is a good thing.

yes frustration probably pushes you to open the windows too much. just a small opening on the side of house away from the wind. it'll take awhile.

Take cold showers and leave the windows open

Rotating fan and crack the window slightly. Honestly those are the only things that you can do, along with your bedroom door.

Lots of fans. Also see about plug-in air conditioners. Or, you could buy a cold humidifier.

Try using a rotating fan or if you have a ceiling fan turn it on!
