Has anyone ever made a Better then Sex cake recipe and used layer cake pans instead of a 13x9 pan? I want to take this cake to a dinner and I don't have a cake tote for a 13x9 pan. Help!!! It's the one with chocolate cake mix and heath candy.

I know about the adjustment of the time, was just wondering about the appearence of the cake. Will it look ok?

The recipe is calculated for 13x9, but the cake doesn't care. You can bake in another pan, just adjust-down (or up - depending on the size of the pan) the baking time. When a toothpick comes-out clean, the cake is done.

The layer cake pans should work out fine. Depending on the size of the pan though, the cooking time will increase because the batter is deeper than if it were in the 13 x 9 pan. You could also use two 8 x 8 pans if you have them. Don't forget to send me some!

I've never baked that cake, but I know you would need to reduce the baking time for the round pans from what a 13x9 would bake

you mean you want to bake it in two smaller pans instead of the 13x9?
it should be fine. just check with a toothpick to make sure its done, it may cook a few minutes faster.

I never have the right cake pan size. don't sweat it! When the cake is done just stick a tooth pick in it and if it comes out clean with out a whole bunch of goo then its done!

Just pour it out evenly into the pans and cook it, and stack it like any other layer cake. It should be good.

ugh, basically you put the vegetable oil , 2 eggs , and 1/4th cup of water into the bowl and mix it with the cake mix and then bake it for the time it says on the back of the box and it magically comes out of the oven... then you wait 15 minutes for them to cool and you put the frosting on each and flip the other one onto the top and frost the sides and top of that one and your done...

I once tried to hump a Better Than Sex cake, and let me tell you, it wasn't better than sex. Give me a woman any day over that.
