There is really no best way to "win" back an ex unless there are still some feelings on his/her end. First, you must consider what were the causes of the break up. Secondly, have those problems been resolved or can a compromise be made. Next, you have to ask yourself do you want your ex back because you still have feelings for him/her or do you want your ex back because you are lonely or vunerable.
If you feel that you can honestly say that this is what you want and the issues that caused the break-up have or can be resolved then maybe you should let your ex know your feelings. Remember you cannot force anyone to love you know matter how much you may want them to. If he/she doesn't want the same thing, then as hard as it may be, it's time to move on. Be true to yourself first and foremost and take it a day at a time.

Don't try hard. Be yourself. Be friendly, but not stalkerish. Don't make a big deal about chasing after him. Your ex is your ex for a reason, so figure out what that reason is, and then show him that it no longer applies.
Of course, this only works if you broke up because of you. If it was his choice, or if he's found someone else, you're probably out of luck and should just let him go.
It's a cliche, but it's true: If you love someone, let them go. If they come back to you, they're yours.

If he is ex then there is a reason for this. Think about it long and hard before you try to "win him back". If there were reasons you broke up then they will always be a factor.
Personally I think you should move on. Break ups are painful but you soon mend.

Stop acting desperate and move on with your life. Do you really need someone who discarded your love and affection as though it was worthless to make you feel complete.

Make him jealous! Whenever you know you're gonna be around him, dress your absolute best, always look like you're having a great time, and surround yourself with male company. People tend to want what other people want, just because other people want it.

I say one day when you're alone with them, look them straight int he eye and say somehting like "I've been thinking how great of man you really are and how I would love to be be romantic again".
Then never mention it again.

Lose weight , dress sexy, and ask him out. Then, tell him you were wrong about whatever it was you broke up over and give him the hottest sex he has ever had. If that don't work its hopeless.
