I used to make fun of people who peel it from the little end with no tab on it. I always thought of the tab like the tab on a soda can. But now I realize that the tab is the holder, and that it is a lot easier to open it from the other end if you puncture a hole with a fingernail. have you ever tried that?

sometimes when you start with the tab it doesn't break, but just splits at the seam, mushing the tip of the banana meat. That never happens when you start with the other end.

I love your question!!.. This came up during family vacation last year!.. :)
My whole family peels it from the stem end, but my mom does it from the other end--same reason as yours, the "tab" is the "holder." But I find that sometimes there's a hardened bit at that end, and it doesn't come off when you peel the skin, so I stick to peeling it from the "tab."

I can't say that I have ever seen anyone peel a whole banana from anything but the end that attaches to the tree. Does the inside membrane tend to stay with the peel a little better that way?

no longer from the tip which became linked, yet from the different end. you could nicely be surprised at how plenty much less perplexing that's, this variety. only seize the banana, fingernail your way by the peel and into the beef of it. The peel "breaks," and there you're, on your thank you to deliciosity!!! relish!!! xxxpeapod

I peel it from the bottom to the top. If you pinch the bottom it opens up really nicely and is sometimes easier then the top where you do get the mushy tops!

I always unzipped my bananas from the stem end. This sounds really interesting, though, and I'm going to try it.
