Muslims believe in Jesus (Isa) as one of the holy Prophets of Allah (god). They have the highest regard and respect for him and Jesus is mentioned many times in the Quran. Muslims believe that Jesus is still alive and will return to the world before the end of time. Muslims also believe in Mary and refer to her as Hazrat Mariam (Hazrat = respected). Muslims believe her to be one of the 5 most noble women of all time. These are things that have been told to muslims in the Quran.
However all muslims and even some christians don't believe that Jesus was born on 25th December. Hence for a muslim to celebrate christmas would be to just join in the "fun" and the materialism of Christmas.

Christmas is a festival dating back to pagan times.
Around 25 December, the pagan Romans had a festival to worship the sun (not son) as things are a bit cold and dark around this time, and they thought that if they didn;t have this festival, make human sacrifices etc, the sun wouldn;t come back in Spring.
When the Romans became Christian (after persecuting them as middle eastern terrorists for a while) they didn't want to give up all the fun so decided it would be handy to say this was Jesus's birthday and call it Christmas.
So Christmas is not really a 'Christian ' festival at all, it has just evolved over the years into a British festival with its own traditions, such as Christmas trees (a throwback to pagan belief in tree spirits, but introduced from Germany a few hundred years ago), Roast turkey (first introduced in the 1500s), santa claus, etc.
In other countries, even Christian ones, Christmas is often celebrated differently, in South America it is usually on January 7th.
I don't see any harm in Muslims giving or exchanging presents, I'm Muslim and my kids have given out cards to their friends, presents to teachers etc. I'm quite happy to wish someone a 'Happy Christmas'. Islam teaches giving and generosity.
Muslims also have a strong belief in Jesus as a Messenger of God, born of the virgin Mary, but we believe he was a man, a messenger, sent to call people to worship One God alone and do good, as did Noah, Moses, Abraham, etc.
Muslims also believe that Jesus never died, but that he was raised to heaven by God, and will return towards the end of time, when he will denounce those who warped his teachings by worshipping him as God or the Son of God, when in fact he did not teach this - he taught them to worship the One God, creator of the Universe.
Muslims celebrate 2 Eids, these change every year as they are by the lunar calendar.
Eid ul Fitr is celebrated after the month of fasting in Ramadhan.
Eid ul Adha is celebrated after the pilgimage season to remember and respect Prophet Abraham and his willingness to sacrifice for God.
Every adult Muslim who can afford it is supposed to give a goat or sheep (as meat) to the poor on Eid ul Adha. In the UK, we normally pay charities to carry this out for us in poor countries.
This year, we have Eid ul Adha on 31 December, handy for buying gifts in the sales!
My kids will get their gifts on Eid, but my Mum always gives them Christmas gifts also as she is Christian.

I think they also celebrate a holiday in December... some even celebrate the birth of Jesus b/c although they don't believe He is the son of God.. they believe He was a diciple that could bring about miracles. If you ask me.. this is kind of twisted! yet, in their eyes, they are in a sense 'keeping the peace with Christians'

Not sure. Christmas seems to have become so secular and materialistic even my jewish and atheist school friends celebrate it. I dont think they would. Because my muslim friends dont really care alot for Christian things at all.

Muslims give and get gifts on both Eids. So basically they have two "Christmases".
I think Jews still have the best deal. Eight nights.
