WHICH "African" religion?

The religions of WHICH Africans? Sudanese? Bantu? Mbuti? Hottentots? Egyptians?

I don't think that Africa's problems are related directly to devoutness or lack thereof.

The idea that a lack of devoutness is the cause of Africa's ill is a supremely superficial glossing over of the real causes of poverty, inter-tribal warfare, scarce resources, colonization, and so on.

I am not African, but I believe any religion that gives you a meaning to life is not superficial. This is not a new religion, it's been here for centuries. Just when the Africans were enslaved they were not allowed their religion and native tongues or customs by many slave owners. First and foremost no one should belittle someones religious belief, after all isn't this why so many people came to this country, the chance to practice their religious beliefs without persecution or reprisals.

definitely not fair. There's a lot of societal ills in America too.

In places like Sudan where Christians are being persecuted and taken into slavery, no I wouldn't say religion is superficial for them.
