There are low sugar and sugar-free hot cocoa mixes out there - just check your supermarket shelves. (Personally I think they taste like a**, but don't let that stop you from at least trying it.) There are also low-calorie chocolate candies and cookies, usually with the diabetic foods; some taste better than others. (I recommend Snackwells, but again that's just my opinion.)

From your description, though, it sounds like calories aren't the only problem. If you're supposed to stay away from coffee and tea, that suggests a sensitivity to phylloxanthines - such as caffeine and theophylline. Chocolate contains theobromine, which is a similar chemical. Most milk chocolate and chocolate flavored foods (including common hot cocoa mix) contain little, and white chocolate has none. But 'rich' cocoa mixes and dark chocolate, among others, may have enough theobromine to be a problem for you. Ask your Dr. and check the labels.

Dark Chocolate is the "healthiest" though I am not sure it has the least amount of calories. If you must drink chocolate, why not try a sugar free mix?

There is a type of chocolate that you can use that is high in antioxidants - in your first response it is mentioned - dark chocolate made by Hershey's. Its available at CVS, Walgreen's and other Nature foods stores. But, in if you are concerned about calories - it can depend on how much of it you consume.

Chocolate has nearly as much caffiene as coffee and tea, so dont think you're some how avoiding it just because your drinking cocoa.

Cocoa beans naturally have caffiene in them. And depending on the grade of chocolate, certain amounts remain during processing.

I dont know if thats why you're avoiding coffee and tea, but i thought I'd point that out. Its best to drink herbal teas made from plants completely void of caffiene, or to drink hot water with lemon.

Matte is an excellent choice as well, for those avoiding caffiene.

Dark is better, and I like to get dark chocolate with at least 60% cocoa or more...lot's less sugar... still has calories, though.
