Even though America now is a multi cultural society, In a not too distant history it was not. I think Americans are afraid of immigration, because the land our ancestors took from the natives may one day be taken from us in a what goes around comes around cycle. Immigration should be controlled, but this is the land of the free and those who want to be free should be given that opportunity. Many people are unaware how great our standards of living are, and the opportunities this country offers. worldwide people should have the chance to taste democracy.

We should make it easier for immigrants to get documented. I have no problem with anyone who wants to come to this country for a better life. My problem is with the employers who look to exploit illegal aliens and pay them under the table and below minimum wage. The workers are getting exploited, are not contributing to the tax base so everyone gets shafted. Most of the immigrants I know, both legal and illegal are hard working decent people just looking for a better life.

there should be a guest worker programe, on top of that they pay a refundable amount of money for their own deportion when their visa is up if they leave great they get the money back...if they stay they don't get the money back and the deportation people take. Legal immigration is good, it brings a variety of people and new culture to america. Illegal immigration only exsists becaue it's too hard to get a proper legal visa. let alone a green Card.

I agree that we need a better way of controlling who enters and leaves the US. But please do not attempt to say illegal immigrants benefit the USA, because they do not.
Legal immigrants became US Citizens and have greatly benefited the US and are a major part of American society.
Why can't illegal immigrants do the same????

What you are talking about is legal immigration. If the people were documented then they wouldn't be illegal. The only difference is that they need to get permission to come first.

The benefits for illegals is to the rich slave labor, criminal Republicans who hire them but pay no benefits! Unfortunately, they leave the rest of us to pay for education, health care and other services!

Legals benefit it, Illegals don't. They take up space and resources, especially where I live. Lost Angeles.
