It all depends if you want a temporary or permanent solution!!!
Unfortunately we cannot duplicate mother's nature, and even if we did, fog could not be final solution to the problem.
There is way too much financial interest in the industry to restrict air travel. Perhaps if those interests are put aside, we can get a fair restriction in air travel.

Air traffic Control call the shots. Fog is definately a bad thing to take off in. Usually any situation where there has been a catrostophe will inhibit planes from taking off. Fog, ice on the plane, wind etc.

No ..fog is under nature's control...unless you are a very holy person whose prayers are answered everday....
You cannot restrict air travel now, it has begun...we are gonna fly and fly everywhere ...to places you never heard off, or you never thought off - you cannot stop us anymore...we love flying.

In practice it is, but it need not be. It is perfectly possible for aircraft to fly and land without being able to see the ground. However, there has to be some small element of risk, and the airlines would not be willing to take it. As a WW2 RAF pilot, even then we were trained in "blind" approaches and landings.
