i feel like im not valued very much by my friends and they can say what they want to me, also wen i meet new people, they find it easy to be comfortable saying harsh things to me. im a very confident and friendly person but sometimes i wonder why my friends dont make much of an effort with me and why people hurt my feelings sayng things, i know half the time this is joking but i feel like 'why do they talk to me like that and not my friends' also i want to make more friends, the ones i have seem to not bother alot cos i have a bf? but i want to be more sociable, and need to make a wider circuit of friends, i dont want to go to church or do voluntary work to make friends, but i do want to make more...

i've been down this road before. Honestly, this may be a time for you to take stock of your friendships. I did that this year and realized that plenty of the 'friendships' I thought I had, weren't exactly friendships. They were more one-way streets, in that I was always the one there and always the one that could be called upon but always the one to be hurt. So, I decided to distance myself from a lot of people.

I don't advocate this route because it could make for some lonely moments. What you can do is have a sit-down with a friend or friends who mean the most to you and let him/her/them know what is on your mind.

With regard to respect, I believe that self-confidence and sense of self cause others to respect you. I'm not saying you don't have any but maybe you need to let it be more apparent.

All the best to a good life!

Don't worry. Be urself and take it easy. doesn't mean to stop caring abt others and ur friends.

Just tell urself that some ppl are just like that and can't be change. Do not always take those harsh words to heart. Most of the time it is just that they are too blunt in their words.

When u meet new ppl, just keep an open mind. It takes time to get to know new ppl better. So don't let their first impression turn u off. On ur part, u should try to build ur character more so ppl will look at u in a better light.

Nobody can put you down without you allowing it. It really sounds like your friends are just being sociable by teasing you. Learn to accept and tease back when being teased by people or friend for it's actually the spice of life.

u know i how u feel and i been there too
now i have people i talk to and i don't really thing it call friendship but it good to keep them around.
i make alot of effort to make plan so we can hand out and it ever happen but it cool, i go out myself to movie, and other place i want to go.

i find it hard too for people to accept me for who i am, i am tell you at work, and school people juge me just b/c i am an open mind person.
i wanted to stop being myself and please other people and GUESS WHAT I WASN'T HAPPY.
they are aways some people some where u will accept u 4 who u r so
be strong and if someone laugh and want to hand out do hand out w/ them if u feel like it just don't force urself.
u will be fine believe

Find something that you like doing, painting, biking, etc., and meet people that way that you have common ground with, they will wind up being closer friends than the ones you have now.

Make people respect you thru your actions..those that belittle you r not your friends...have you explained that those words bother u. Try that first if they dont respect your feelings then they truly r not your friends....stand up for yourself ....that takes courage......
