You can get them tinned from delicatesans. I've never seen live 'fresh' snails on sale to the general public.
Or, collect your own. UK snails are all edible snails. Collect them several days before use and put them on a diet of just lettuce to clean them through, and then no food for 2 days. Make sure you collect from somewhere that hasn't recently been sprayed with pesticide.
Another option is to go to a specialist African food shop as they eat the large African snails and often have dried ones and sometimes fresh.

Yum. I have only seen these canned. I think in a lot of french restaurants they also buy them canned and buy the shells separately (yes really!) delicious with garlic butter and loads of bread to soak up the lovely juices!

All snails are edible, but sourcing them in this country you could try:

You can eat the regular garden snails from your garden, you just need to 'purge' them first.

But try this

Don't. Go and hang with the garlic munchers on the other side of the channel.
